Now that the English clubs have 'withdrawn' from the ESL two things should happen in my opinion firstly the administrators need to amend the rules to absolutely ensure this type of maverick approach from big clubs can't happen again, and secondly UEFA don't cave in to the demands from the so called big clubs for a larger slice of the pie from European competition, if they do it will merely encourage this kind of behaviour particularly from some of the American owners in the future.

I'll add to that John if you don't mind? There should be some sort of punishment for the self proclaimed top 6 and my punishment would be strip them of their money off the PL for this season and also start them all on minus 10 points next season but that's just me.

I wouldn’t necessarily disagree Daz but. there was an interesting piece on the radio this morning where John Barnes was saying that people are getting carried away with the perception that the change of heart by the English clubs was all down to fan power and whilst he recognised there was an impact as a result of the fans, in his view the major reason for the change of heart was down to the big players such as TV, business sponsors and the threat of political intervention that resulted in a quick retraction. He also implied that to a certain extent the reason we are in this position is in part the responsibility of the fans as much as anyone else in that we welcomed these owners into our clubs with open arms because they were prepared to spend millions in developing the club buyback we also expect them to do what we want not necessarily what they want and in fairness they haven’t got where they are by doing that which is a fair point I guess.
I don’t think either the PL or anyone else has got the balls to do what you suggest Daz if they tried I think solicitors would make a fortune out of the litigation that would result.

Good point Daz, if they can dock points for clubs breaking FFP rules then surely they could do the same for bringing the game into disrepute. What would really hurt them more tho is if Sky, who've been banging the drum against the ESL formation, told them next season they won't be televising any of their games and the money they would have got for them will be filtered down the league pyramid. Unfortunately I can't see something like that happening.

I agree Daz but they need to find a way of punishing the owners, because it was the fans, players and staff of the big six that helped massively in getting this thing to collapse, they don’t deserve punishment.
