I read an interesting article talking about expanding the capacity of Villa Park up to about 55,000 based on the plans NSWE have for generating extra revenue for the club. What I hadn't realised was the current size of the disparity between clubs like ours and the so called big six, so Villa's match day income is currently estimated at £20 million Spurs is apparently an eye watering £120 million that's a massive gap to bridge and unless we make significant impact in improving our revenue streams then I fear we may never be able to compete in terms of either salaries or transfer fees maybe that's why the focus on youth and we may become the premierships Dortmund, develop our own and sell for a huge profit.

{Ed002's Note - And remember that Aston Villa do not own the stadium.}

Billionares own villa stadium just like spurs.

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with Spurs.}

Ed am I right in thinking that seeing as the club don’t own the stadium that any costs for extension works and revamp wouldn’t effect our ffp negatively but the extra income from bums on seats would have a positive effect on our finances? Or is it a case of even if we owned it that money spent on the stadium wouldn’t effect our ffp either way?

{Ed002's Note - Any infrastructure spending is excluded from the FFP calculations. The club are now renting the stadium but the agreement will have to be ratified as to whether all of the income goes to AV or whether some goes to the owning company - which is what I would expect and how other clubs did it.}

Aston Villa not owning the stadium, as a club asset, is completely irrelevant to John’s point.
