Hi all, hope you're well. I think the way the management will look at the upcoming transfer window maybe that, considering where we are and a reasonable next step in our evolution, we will get 4 players to step into the 1st team. I say this because I think we have 7 players, who at the moment, are 'safe
Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings ( in my opinion only just), Targett, Grealish and Watkins.
Add the new 4 to these and we have a good starting 11.This allows us to have the others on the bench or sold and the youngsters to continue their progression without excessive pressure of necessity.

POL, in a round about way I entirely agree with your 7 player analysis, so with Jack out we are currently only playing with 6 of your list and that's where many fans see the reason we continue to serve up such poor quality football. So in terms of numbers moving forward I think we need at least five and these additions should be supplemented with our young talent, many of which should now be bloodied in the remaining games of this season. The rotation of Trezz, Elghazi, Berkley, Ramsey, Marvelous Traore clearly is not working and Smiths stubborness to introduce a change in selection and tactics is not helping his credibility as a premier league coach.

Interesting that when Deano was asked if Villa would be spending big in the summer he said no but if there was a good value deal to be done then the club would try to do iit. That doesn’t suggest to me the club will be looking to shell out £40 or 50 million on established stars more likely we will be shopping abroad I think.

I know one thing, if I was a young player at VP, I would like a few assurances as to prospects, or I would be gone.

Allyp 1972 name the 3 you'd like to see us get, everyone of us loves our club and is entitled to an opinion.
scottcafu I understand where you're coming from but the higher we finish in the league, the more money we get and enhances our position for new signings, which is why Deano is playing 'his strongest team ' Be mindful that under 20years of age the youngsters have to be introduced carefully.
Villajohn you may well be right, I just hope he gets a good value deal on 4 good players lol.

I would argue that we wouldn’t necessarily finish lower in the league if Deano introduced the best of the youngsters.
It might just have the opposite effect and lift the levels of effort of the regulars. It might just lift the tempo.
I don’t think any of us are thinking on the lines of starting any of them in games, and I fail to see how cameos of 15 - 20 minutes are going to do anything to shatter their confidence levels, again it might have the opposite effect.
If some of them go out on loan in the lower leagues next season it’s still men’s football and just as physical, arguably more so, and a few cameos with our first team now would give them a flavour of it before going out on loan.
Of course if some of them were really to shine in the cameos they might even be kept at the club and at the very least they’d get better clubs wanting them on loan.

POL, you mention Deano is playing our strongest team, that is debatable, perhaps if you are correct that it is the strongest team, he is playing the wrong tactics, either way it's currently not working.

It’s all about the subtle disclaimers John 😉 going on what everyone’s opinion on who we should sign, would you all be happy with (unless a ‘bigger’ club or any other club than Aston Villa) Tammy, Buendia and Isaac Hayden? Assuming Jack stays and Luiz plays right mid with Hayden defensive mid?
