On the Nakamba Vs Dougie debate, as someone has said, horses for courses. As things stand we aren't a top side, we have shown this season we can dominate games, against decent sides and string good performances together, but we are still subject to dips in form, poor performances etc as we have seen the last few weeks.

In those situations, when things are going our way, I think we need Nakamba, yesterday shows you exactly what he does at his best. Nicks in, breaks up play, disrupts, intercepts, mainly a pain in the arse for the opposition. But, when we are on form, we've got 4 forward players buzzing around the other teams final third, Nakamba hasn't the quality to pick out 30/ 40 yard diagonals, incisive passes and the rest, that's needed to find these players and cut a team open. That's where Dougie comes in, you don't force your way into the Brazilian national team, to go onto play regular, if you haven't ability. He's the one who has that technical ability, whilst still keeping some of the qualities defensively of Nakamba, but not all.

Personally, I don't think they work together, because you need a number 8 next to them to bring the energy, and that quite clearly is McGinn. I think the three of them could work, with McGinn in the 10 and Dougie the 8, but I don't think you'll see the best of him there, he gets caught between roles and disrupts the others.

So for me, for now, keep Nakamba in the side, Dougie potentially coming off the bench. When we find the form we've shown multiple times this season, that's when you look to switch it. Until we become a top top side, we will always need a Nakamba type in the squad, ready to come in when needed.

If Man City come sniffing and want him back, I will jump on your cart Chris, until then I will run alongside mate.
He has been part of this ineffective midfield, so for me there is no hiding place.
Usually if you have got it, you usually produce it.

Produced it multiple occasions as part of the most effective midfield three we’ve had in years, earlier in the season. Dictated games for us, did what needed to be done and kept us ticking, staying under the radar. Looked like he had seconds longer that everyone else at times, the signs of a top player - hence why he made the Brazil team, if you aren’t producing you don’t make that sort of company.

Every player outside of the back 4 and keeper has been poor for a few weeks, but if we applied that “if you have got it, you usually produce it” then we’d be replacing the majority of the team.

Chris do u think dean will stick wit same 11 for Sheffield? I think nakamba could really compliment us in midfield if dean is going to start Barkley instead of Ramsey.

OK, I see what you are saying mate, and you may well be right, I will hold my hand up if I wrong.
We will never all like the same players, and he is one I am not mad about.

I think he has to mate! I know he changed it to suit the Leeds pitch but they did a job, with Sheff playing 3 in the middle we need to bite from Nakamba, and Ramsey is streets ahead of Barkley at the minute!

You are one of very few who do admit when they are wrong Dave so I have no doubt that you would!

As we’ve said in the past, if we all thought the same about players there’d be no discussion to have!

As you can probably tell I really rate Luiz, and I think he can be one of the player to take us and stick with us in the next level! Fingers crossed anyway!

Yes I will mate, thank you.
I thought you rated him Chris, listen mate, I would like nothing more than for him to become the next Claude Makelele, trust me.
Fingers crossed.

I said long ago, Dougie ain’t no defensive midfielder, and was banging the drum for getting Isaac Hayden in. Remember Dougies 1st game? 25 yard screamer because he was imo playing further forward, his natural position. Think of it as a squad game, pick the team appropriate for the game in front of us, if we’re playing a ‘top 6’ team home or away, play Dougie and Marvellous at the expense of even McGinn, if we want to keep that 3 up front (1 centre forward, 2 ‘wingers’) and have Jack or A N Other as the No 10, playing against ‘lesser’ teams, switch out Marvellous for McGinn, Sanson, Ramsey etc, same applies if we’re chasing the game from behind, that’s with the players we have now, who knows what the summer might bring?

UTV.

Whilst I understand what your saying Ally, Dougie was the defensive midfielder for our best footballing performances of the season, so he can definitely play that role and be the clock master.
