Agree Disagree

An excellent summary Ed. I can’t really disagree with anything you’ve written there.
A few quality additions this Summer and I think we can really go places.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mark, not used to people agreeing with me!}

I will make it number 2 in agreement with you Ed, good analogy mate,

I agree wholly about Grealish and Barkley, they need breaking up, and I think Sanson will form a better partnership with Grealish.
Yesterday I posted about a striker, and like you I think we need a quality forward, we are very light in that department and it needs addressing sooner rather than later.
Also Ed, what is your opinion on my point about overplaying in the final third, we are giving teams time to set up, while looking for that final pass, instead of having a pop at goal, bloody annoying?

{Ed001's Note - thanks mate. As for the overplaying, it is my main beef with Grealish, he waits too long to release a pass, usually stopping the ball dead to wave his foot over it while the defenders have time to organise themselves. What you did so well against Liverpool was attack quickly, but the attacks have been gradually slowing since then. You sometimes just need to look to move it quickly to someone in space, rather than wait for the perfect pass which never comes.

I actually said to someone on the Liverpool site earlier that I think you would still be right in the top 4 battle now if Grealish just moved it on quicker and stopped dawdling on the ball. It reminds me of Lallana, when it clicks and he just gets it going quickly, mixed in with a moment of skill every now and then, the team benefits. But it only ever seems to be for a flash of the quick movement in games or the odd run of games, it is never consistent. Probably, imo, because he is always being told how great he is, so has no real motivation to examine his game and improve on it.

Grealish burst through and was feted as a great from the start, contrast that to Ronaldo, for example. He joined United and was crucified for being a fancy dan foreigner that had no effect on games. He has then spent his career working on his game to be more effective, while Grealish is just playing the same way still. It is not a lack of effort or desire, it is just not focused correctly.}

A very unbiased and informed take on the Villa and Grealish Ed. Nice to get a different perspective on how people view our team 👍.

Ed like the other guys I think the assessment on where we are as a club at the moment is fair, I guess what I am about to say will leave me in the minority somewhat but with regards to Jack holding onto the ball to long and overplaying I think a lot of that is down to the fact that up until this season he hasn’t had the right quality of player around him so the concern was if he didn’t do it we would lose the ball and be straight back on the back foot, I think it is sometimes difficult to immediately get out of a mindset that you have been in for a couple of seasons but I agree it’s something he needs to work on to take his game to the next level.

{Ed001's Note - I agree that a lot of it stems from how he had to play, which is why I compared him to Lallana, as he was in a similar situation with Southampton. It did click with Lallana for a few months and that was what launched Liverpool up to the heights they reached, but then he got injured. Hopefully if it does click for Grealish he won't suffer the same long term injury problems!}

Thank you Ed, you are so up my street mate.
Our second goal against Burnley proved that very point, move it quick
Bish Bash Bosh = GOAL.
That is why I think Sanson will be a motivator for that type of approach, quick direct football.
Great win for you guys last night, our son in law is giving me a bit gyp 😂😂.

{Ed001's Note - Sanson looks a good signing. Just hope he doesn't turn out to be a another Seri!

Cheers mate, we needed it, the last few weeks have been difficult watching.}

Think you’ve both hit the nail on the head, somewhere in the middle, Ed and John. If I had Rudy Gustede, Baston or (Hate to say it) Davis infront of me, I’d probably hold onto the ball aswell😂. Fingers crossed, as Dave has pointed out, we see more goals like the second at Burnley, last at Arsenal etc, more often! He definitely has had a different dimension this season, and it’s shown in his goals and assists, but I still don’t think it’s fully clicked yet.

I strongly disagree with ed01 with regard to Jack holding on to the ball to long, my take is Jack holds on to the ball as long as it takes to play w the right ball, like Chris says what's the point of playing a quick ball to players sl that can't deal with it. Jack is that clever on the ball he knows the ability of the players he is passing it to, that's why he is so effective.

29 Jan 2021 20:41:04
They are usually waiting scotty, and if they can`t deal with it should not be in the side.
They train every day together.

29 Jan 2021 21:34:18
Dave we have had lots of players that have struggled to deal with a quick ball, Taylor has played for seasons that couldn't accept a quick ball or any ball, Davis struggles, Wes struggled at times, Trez is not good with a quick ball, as I said Jack adjusts accordingly.
