This Morgan Sanson looks a good replacement if Connor goes on loan .
Did you see reports that the Baggies owner, is in talks to sell up .

He would be a great signing Dave if we could get him.
Arsenal are sniffing around as well, so a fair bit of interest in him.

Any reason my reply wasn’t posted here Ed’s?

{Ed002's Note - I have not seen a reply but I can provide an explanation of the situation. Morgan Sanson (CM) PZ is still working with A-C to get the best possible deal for Morgan Sanson - last summer he was offered to Spurs, Chelsea, West Ham and Wolves. Prior interest of Everton left with Silva - but the lady from Marseille says that Carlo Ancelotti has shown interest in the player before and perhaps there will be further contact - but she is not confident. Arsenal were in contact but with Ceballos returning that ended matters. A-C has spoken with Aston Villa on several occasions but they are initially asking for a loan with an option to buy - which is not attractive to l'OM - but something may be possible if it became an obligation to buy or a straight sale where they may get a discount off the €25M asking price. Burnley have also made an enquiry but only want a loan.}

Cheers Ed, seems like OM want money up front or a guarantee of a set fee, which in the current climate, is fair enough.

My original post was just from a villa point of view, if it comes off, it’s a step in the right direction. If we want to kick on we need to have a full squad of players who can come in and fit the system, in terms of quality and athleticism.

Two players who jump out at the minute to me are Hourihane and Nakamba. I love Hourihane and his contribution to where we have should never be understated, his whole story from League 2, to premier league, scoring and assisting in every league along the way is inspiring. But whilst he 100% has the technical ability, physically he isn’t there, or anywhere near where we need him to be for this system. Replacing him with Sanson, who by all accounts (going off player reviews) sounds like a right footed John McGinn with a bit more attacking wise about him, is a no brainier and a step in the right direction.

Nakamba on the other hand is there is physically, but his technical ability is miles away from where it needs to be.

If we can now start to upgrade these players who are our back ups, injuries and loss of form no longer effects us the way it has at times this season! That’s the direction we need to head in, to kick on and not only establish ourselves as a top half team but also attempt to push to the next level.

{Ed002's Note - Conor Hourihane should be getting a loan and that should give him the opportunity to get more game time but it does appear his chances at Aston Villa are limited. Nakamba is behind Douglas Luiz but I don't know if he will be able to step up if needs be - you would know more about it than me. Sanson is a very good player, versatile and still only in his mid 20s. The lady from Marseille will be back in England over another player today or tomorrow and it may provide an opportunity to try and discuss this further. I am not sure if she will need to quarantine but the plan will be not to stay long if possible. Pini will not be travelling but can still be reached if Aston Villa do want to press ahead.}

Wolves will be sick to the bath teeth, they are after him nearly every window the last 3 years!

Looks like we are wanting to improve the whole squad, which is good news as it sets us up to push on to the next level.

I love Hourihane and his role in getting us to where we are, cannot be understated. The whole story is a brilliant advert for British football, made his way from league 2, through the leagues, all the way to the top, scoring goals in every division! But unfortunately, now Deano has the players he needs to play his system at this level, Hourihane just isn’t athletic enough. Technically he’s perfect, but his physical attributes are way off.

On the same note, Nakamba is the opposite, physically he’s perfect, technically no where near what we need.

So someone like Sanson coming in, who looks by all accounts like a right footed french John McGinn, we now have another option within the squad, who fits the system and is up to standard. Suddenly a bench of Wes, Trez/ El Ghazi, Sanson, potentially Ramsey - attacking wise gives us plenty of options!
