Once again VAR ruining football. We should never have had a penalty to be fair, but equally. How can watkins' goal be disallowed if it takes 4 minutes to make a decision, based on the CLEAR AND OBVIOUS rule?! I've ranted since var started and now people seem to start just accepting it. It needs to be gotten rid of. It's absolute nonsense and has ruined football for me. I'm glad I can't go to games atm because at least I don't celebrate and then be disappointed. I HATE it. I thought we were the better team, but a draw would have been fair. I'm also pretty disgusted that we cheated a lot tonight. Come on Villa, this isn't us. Having said all that, I'm happy that we are in with a chance in every game we play. Still, gutted tonight. Sorry for the rant.

Not me Dave, I accept nothing.
Its ludicrous and gone to far, VAR should be used to see if the ball crossed the line, the fun has gone out of the game, just as the fun is being drained out of everything else.
VAR should be binned, has ruined the game.

Not clear and obvious mistake. However with the chances we create it shouldn't have mattered. Disappointing we've gone into the season with one decent striker having done the same last year. Someone's to blame for that. With our home form Friday night could be a big problem.

Hawkeye is there for goals. VAR was brought in for the sole purpose of stopping the complaints from bad offside decisions. We got what we wanted and now we don't like it.
I don't have an issue with offsides, its black or white and I'm not even sure why it took so long to call that one as the lines weren't even overlapping, I knew it as soon as I saw the still frame.
The penalty decisions are my issue. Tonight's could have been overturned but Rice was pulling the shirt but the Brighton one shouldn't have been.
My opinion is it should be left to offside and red cards only, all other decisions are for the officials on the pitch. My only leeway is for obvious handball after a goal is scored, a la Henry.

I was a fan of mings but he was horrible tonight again, I don’t think engles is better so for me we need to buy another cb to make him pull his finger out and command his box because losing games isn’t giving him the kick in the back side he needs, konsa much better defender and much better in the opposition box. tonight and the Southampton game very tough losses to take, robbed tonight plain and simple.

Absolutely agree Dave. To be clear, it was the penalty we were actually awarded that I thought was also a poor decision. No way that Trez was properly fouled there! Yet they still spent minutes deciding with VAR. The goal-line tech works fast and accurately (when it's turned on ;p) but VAR is a disgrace. I'm not suggesting it has been used for this yet, but it does also open up the opportunity for manipulation/ corruption within the game.

Also, football is a unique sport. It doesn't work well with 'stats' and such because it's a free-flowing sport ont he whole. This is another reason that VAR ruins the game. Another point (sorry! ) is how come when 2 decisons per half (for example) take 8 minutes to decide, 8+ minutes isn't ever added onto the half? They don't stop the clock do they?

Irrelevant of the offside, how can someone spend 5 minutes looking at the same still image, and completely miss the fact Ogbonna has Watkins in a bear hug!
