Does anyone think traore will start tomorrow instead of trez? I think he needs to start a game, we need to see what he's capable of, my mates watched a lot of him and raves about him, I've noticed he's already been put down on here, which is a shame as he's barely played!

Agree0 Disagree0

I always thought he’d be a back up to be honest, he barely featured for Lyon last season, mainly due to a change in system but he has also played striker so he wasn’t really fancied.

The coaches obviously like Trez’s high intensity and pressure, which from what I’ve seen isn’t really natural to Traore. Early days though, he’s looked good in some appearances and a bit lost in others.

Traoré is more than capable, and before Garcia arrived was excellent for Lyon. For some reason Garcia didn’t seem to be a fan and he was relegated to the bench for the bulk of last season.
For me, I agree with 81, he should get his chance and start the game. Trez was disappointing against Leeds, in that he gave very little assistance to Matty Cash who clearly needed it throughout the game.

Guys agree with much of what's been said, however we have got to trust Deano and the other coaches judgement, they see them both in training and I think he will continue to start with trezz and swap after 60 minutes.

For me Trez is ok, but running around like someone trying to score house points is not enough.
He can be very careless and clumsy, and produces very little for his efforts.
I would love to see the rolls reversed, and use Trez as back up.
Personally I think you would get more goals per season from Traore, when he has adjusted.

Use Trez when we need to counter attack and use Traore when we need to break teams down would be my plan.

I would just say, whenever I watched Lyon a few seasons ago, Traoré was at his best when Lyon were on the counter attack. This was mainly because of his pace, something Trez lacks somewhat. We won’t know how Traoré best fits into the team until we start using him imo but hey what do I know.

Pace, stamina and tenacity is all Trez really has right now but he is improving. Like Shaun Wright Phillips sometimes creating 10 average openings has more of a chance of leading to something than one good one.
I'd liken Traore's pace to Kodjia. His build means its there when he gets going but the initial burst is slightly lacking. Stamina would be my biggest concern for that sort of game due to the large number of long distance sprints involved.
Trez's defending is somewhat erratic but he puts himself about, Traore wouldn't abandon defending but he would also miss tracking a fair few runners.

Here's a novelty for a change, if we're looking to progress, let teams worry about how we're going to play rather than us worry about them. Treat them with respect by all means but we have to have confidence in what we, as a team, can do. Without getting carried away, we need to have that swagger about us. That could be the difference between being an average team and a good one. It's high time we started acting like big boys again instead of just being grateful we're in such esteemed company. That's just my take on things 👍.

Every team needs to adapt to the team in front of them, that stubbornness is what us costing City.
We tried playing our way with reckless abandon at the start of last season and it failed.
You can't play possession football against City just like you can't play up and under against Burnley.
We have a good mix of players who can do both now so we should use that to our advantage.

I agree we need to adapt game by game, with better in game management which at times has let us down. The point I'm making is that if we have an identifiable way of playing the opposition will spend more time worrying about how to counter act us rather than the other way around. Admittedly it won't work all the time against the big boys but against your Southamptons, Burnley's etc of this league, they should be thinking "s###, it's Villa, how do we stop them? " That's called big time thinking something we haven't had since MON threw his toys out the pram and before that Big Fat Ron.
I acknowledge you have to walk before you run, but if we want to compete at the top table you have to have that mindset that you belong there. Maybe wishful thinking at this time in our resurgence but definitely the way we should be looking at things.
Like I say just my point of view as it would be nice not to be worrying when the likes of Crystal Palace rock up.
