I believe Benrahma has gone to West Ham on loan rather than for the apocryphal £30m. Did we miss a trick there somewhere 🤔.

Or did we dodge a bullet.

Deal still works out at £30mill. £4mill loan with obligation to buy at £21mill plus £5mill add-ons as long as medical investigations clear.

I would have liked Benrahma not only is he a good player in his own right but his understanding with Watkins was really good I hope missing out on this deal doesn’t come back to haunt us.

He did have a good understanding with Watkins John, but the early signs are that he’s going to have an even better one with some of the players he has around him now, in particular Jack and Ross Barkley.
I’m pleased in a way, because I think for the main part he would have been confined to the bench as Jack predominantly plays out on the left. For me they were right not to shell out another huge fee on a player that most probably wouldn’t have started that many games.
It will also mean that Jacob Ramsey, who I’m glad wasn’t loaned out, will hopefully now have the opportunity to become Jack’s replacement .

That is the plan with Ramsey Mark, I have been reading today.
According to reports he will be integral to our plans this season.

I hope your right guys no doubt time will tell.

Dave, I think It’s important that Ramsey is given the chance to progress, as it will give the promising youngsters that have been brought in recently encouragement to achieve the same. Hopefully the lad will seize the opportunities when he gets them.

Totally agree re Ramsey however I hope he isn’t Grealish’ replacement, hopefully his team mate soon enough! Only thing is Mark he has had 3/ 4 opportunities this season yet hasn’t once really seized it so to speak! He was happy to play his part and show himself as a tidy player, however when the going got tough and the opportunity was there to really make a name for himself, give Smith a selection dilemma, mainly against Stoke, he shrunk, didn’t go after the ball, didn’t want to really force things to happen and even worse, shirked a few challenges.

I really rate the kid but his what 18 now? Without a loan he needs to really force his way in, not just tread water! If he’s given a second opportunity take it by the scruff of the neck and make people sit up and listen!

Chris, I didn’t mean replacement in the sense that should Jack leave Villa, more so taking on his role in the event of an injury or just general fatigue. The same applies really for Ross Barkley’s position because as we know Ramsey can play the number 10 role also. In fact it will be interesting to see over the course of time which position suits him best.
The Stoke game you refer to was a shambles from top to bottom, I think even Jack would have struggled to have lit the team up.
I remember Phil Foden started off looking that tidy player type when he was first introduced at Man City, but he has developed into a confident young player constantly looking for the ball now. Ramsey will have good players around him, as Foden had at City, and I think in time will become a valuable member of the team.
Let’s hope so anyway 🤞🏻.
