Trying to think of a good midfield enforcer that we may have a realistic chance of getting and I've thought of Lucas Torriera of Arsenal. Out of favour and seems to want out, heard he may favour a return to Italy but his fellow Argentine Martinez could have a word in his ear as he seems to have settled really quickly. 🤔.

Never heard of him to be honest Moose, so can`t offer an opinion mate.
Earlier I had named three below in answer to AVMAT20, they are,
Alan Browne, Josh Brownhill, George Byers, all well priced and all grafters with quality.

In an ideal world I would agree with you Moose but I think we will only get another couple through the door and that being the case I think our priorities are elsewhere and for me either a centre forward or winger and a left back.

Not had much game time at Arsenal Dave but joined them with a good reputation and it hasn't really worked out for him and I don't think Arteta rates him but could do a job sitting in front of the defence. Also Tom Davies at Everton may be surplus to requirements. Out of the 3 you mentioned only really know Brownhill, mainly from his Bristol City days and believe he's not long been at Burnley.
{Ed047's Note - Torriera is from Uruguay gents, really like him and he hasn’t really been given a chance in his favoured position.

Torreira isn’t Uruguayan. Good player, but he’s barely 5 feet tall. I know size isn’t everything 🤣. but we are lacking a physical presence in midfield and don’t think he’s the answer. Wouldn’t come cheap either.
Personally, feel we’re ok at no. 6. Douglas is class, and Marvelous good enough backup. It’s an 8 that we need.

Torreira was born in a place called Fray Bentos, so the idea of him coming to Villa is surely pie in the sky 😂.

I agree with your thinking as well Ant, I think Ross Barkley is the player we need. Not sure he’s got a massive role to play at Chelsea, and if he’s available at the right price, I would love to see us get him in.

My mistake Ed047 getting my nationalities mixed up, probably why I lost my job at the Foreign Office 😂😂😂.
{Ed047's Note - 🤣🤣 I won't mention any names but after several years of medical training and hard work, a very good friend of mine was struck off after just one minor indiscretion - he slept with one of his patients and can now no longer work in the profession.
I just thought what a waste of all that training and money.
He’s genuinely nice guy and an excellent vet too. 🤷â€â™‚ï¸
