On the Jack/ England thing. imo, a midfield of Phillips, Maddison and Jack is potentially the best midfield in the world, it's got the lot, got to feel bad for Jack though, smacks of when Barry shoulda been in the England squad a lot sooner, wouldn't blame him if he switched back to Ireland

He likes his midfield like him Ally, slow, ponderous and can’t beat a man to save their life. If he could get away with it, he would play Rice, Dier and Winks.
After not answering life questions it seems he had some rehearsed answers in a recorded interview late yesterday. One of which:
“Yes, Jack is unfortunate and I’ll be getting crucified by the Villa fans who have never forgiven me for leaving for Middlesbrough anyway! But c’est la vie. I did pick Tyrone Mings, so it’s not a club thing. “
For me that just confirms it is personal, no one holds anything against you for leaving Gareth, we are still laughing mate, leaving Villa as captain saying you are going to win thing with Middlesbrough, going on to win absolutely nothing😂.

I remember his 1st game back at VP as a Boro player, embarrassing the way he stood and faced all 4 sides of the stadium waiting for the love, didn’t get any from the Holte End 😂😂😂

His comments since, paint the picture of a bitter man, shame really, it was his own decisions that moulded his career, no one forced him to leave.

Having seen Southgate’s comments I think it’s fair to say whilst he is in charge Jack won’t be pulling on an England shirt and probably won’t make a squad. If he waits for him to be gone he will probably have missed the boat anyway as even if we have a poor Euro’s I don’t see the FA giving him the boot as he is the type of individual they like. I don’t think moving clubs will change Southgate’s view so it’s decision time for Jack I think. If you want to play international football it’s going to be for Ireland not England.
Is it only me but reading Southgate’s comments I get the feeling he doesn’t really feel any affinity with the club and whilst I am not suggesting he should favour any of our players they shouldn’t be disadvantaged either. Most ex players normally have fond memories of there times with the various clubs they have played for I just didn’t get that type of feeling from his comments in fact I felt that he didn’t like our club or am I being unduly sensitive.
