I'm going to sit on the fence on the debate of selling Wesley, soley because his goal return wasn't great but not to bad either 6 goals in 22 appearances
He is still very young just moved to a new country and a new league where games come thick and fast, I don't think it would have came down to the last game if he had of been playing
Personally I think we paid to much for and he wasn't Smith's choice he comes a bit to deep to receive to ball and hasn't got the pace to get in the box for crosses
Think if he had samatta heading ability he would be a 15/ 20 goal a season msn no problem
I can't see Deano keeping all 3 stickers and bringing in another so I think Davis will go out on loan to the championship for game time and some much needed goals.

Agree0 Disagree0

I think there is a decent player in Wesley, he was always brought in with the intention of being a plan B I'm sure. He will be a great asset off the bench this season but I agree I can see Smith letting Davis go on loan if we get a top striker (a season in the Championship could really help him) .

We need a top striker in though!

I like him, even when he was playing rubbish his attitude was still top, and he works hard. When you see all the highlights of him from previous clubs, most his goal were him running in behind, catching teams out. We play him as a target man more than anything so it was always going to take time for him to adjust. Typical Villa that his best game was also the game where he got scissored at the kneecap. If we sign say a Callum Wilson I would be more than happy to keep him and them to be our striking options with Watkins (who can also play out wide) and then Barry as fourth choice.

I hope Wesley stays, the poor fellow suffered a terrible injury so we really haven't had enough time for him to acclimatise to the premier league. Many of us will remember another South American who had a slow start and took time to settle, he turned out to be one of our all time favourites, I hope Wes turns out to be another Juan Pablo Angel, I think if he knows fans are behind him and we can be a little patient he may well reward us.

Couldn't agree more, Villa have a great track record for identifying young talent and then not holding onto them long enough to reap the benefits. I feel like a lot of young foreign players need a season to acclimatize to the prem game.
