On the debate with selling Jack I've said it before he is a one trick pony don't get me wrong he is a decent player but no where near world class. I would sell him and buy at least 2-3 players that would improve the team. I don't know if anybody has twitter but check his account anybody who posts anything about him he reposts himself that tells me all he cares about is himself look at corners free kicks he wants to take them all when there are better crosses of the ball on the pitch it's all about him him him so yes I would sell him no player is bigger than the club end of.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am with you all the way on this Daz, I would hope its obvious how I feel about him.
He has to go in my opinion, we will be far better off without him, we are Aston Villa, not Jack Grealish.

The first part of that post I probably agree with, he’s a very decent player but not world class as some people think. Definitely our best player.

The rest is quite frankly garbage, did you read that before you posted it? Because he wants to take freekicks and corners? Are you for real. Hourihane, McGinn and Grealish take probably 95% of our set pieces, probably because they have the best delivery out the whole team, that sort of stuff isn’t a decision from just players, it’s decided by management, mostly Neil Cutler who is in charge of set pieces. The social media stuff I have to know, is he the only player you follow? Because every footballers social media is the exact same these days, because half of them don’t run their accounts themselves.

Criticism is fine and all part of football and people’s opinions, but base it on something real, not social media posts and who takes set pieces for Christ sake.

Chris that's your opinion and you are of course entitled to it but I seem to recall me and you having a disagreement about Jack before for me he is all about himself me me me like a petulant little school boy. I would rather have 5 or 6 players who show a bit of muscle rather than fall over every chance he gets. let's put it this way how many goals from set pieces that Jack has took have we scored from then compare that to Hourihane has taken and he hasn't played like Jack has. As for twitter I haven't got it but you can read their posts. Have a look Chris then tell me I'm wrong it's all about himself repeating stuff about himself personally I don't know him but for me he comes across as arrogant and cocky and in lockdown proves this with what he done. Role model not a chance nurses and doctors are role models not him sell him and let's get players in that want to be team players. i'd also like Ed's view on Grealush and what they think if possible please.

Love it Daz, here here mate.

I can see where you are coming from lads as every time we have the ball we look to Grealish and if he is not "on it" then Villa do not perform. But! . For me we need to be adding players of similar quality to the squad to support him, he created the second most chances in the league last season, if Villa had a decent striker he would have 15 - 20 assists and this would be a whole different conversation. We need to support him, not sell him in my opinion.

You haven’t answered any of the questions Daz, Hourihane takes certain set pieces because he’s left footed and got a wicked delivery, Jack takes others because it suits a right footed, this is decided before the game by Cutler and the management team when they drill set pieces from different areas, so your argument is completely flawed.

Again the social media stuff, every footballer is the same, they all get the same media training, all give the same dribble answers in interviews and all post highlights of themselves. His Last 5 social media posts: him and dean smith entitled ‘gaffer’, villa being premier league, good luck to notts county in play offs, congratulating Trez on Arsenal goal, charity auction for players shirt. What you’ve said is completely unfounded.

My point is the argument he slows it down too much, makes sense. The argument he goes down too much, makes sense, to a degree, ask yourself why in certain situations he plays for a freekick, it’s so obvious we’ve all see him do it, and in others he ploughs on and if he gets taken out he gets taken out, is it because he’s told to do it?

But the two points you made originally are completely untrue, and by your logic the 4/ 5 players we bring in to replace, within months you’ll be saying the same to them, if they want to take freekicks, when they post the same way every other footballer does on social media.

BK someone with sense, you don't sell your best player, jack is ours by far, build team around him.

Lose grealish and say hello to the championship, really is as simple as that. Is he worth 80 million, to Aston Villa? Yes, every penny of it, because it will cost a lot more to replace what he gives us.

AGREE to all you say chrisAVFC.

I admit I have changed my view re Jack as initially I was for selling to secure funds to improve the squad that was before it became clear the owners were prepared to make funds available so if money is available and we can keep Jack then I think that for the next season we should and review then as Jack does have his issues which Villadaz and Villadave have identified and I agree with. However I don’t agree that if we got £80 million for Jack and we took it that would guarantee relegation. £80 million plus what we generate from other sales plus further owner investment would enable us to secure 5 - 6 established premier players maybe more If the recruitment is right then this with the likes of Mings, McGinn, Konsa, Heaton then the overall strength of the squad would be enhanced. Sometimes you sacrifice one for the benefit of the wholewe have done this before remember David Platt.

That`s a very fair comment John.

30 Jul 2020 20:12:16
Chris so you are telling me that our goalkeeping coach is in charge of set pieces?

30 Jul 2020 20:49:01
Yes Daz, this has been said many times in many interviews from staff and players, Neil Cutler is also the set piece coach, one of the reasons he was brought in.
