We were down along time ago let's build a young team that has pace every where starting with our full backs because this villa teams lacks pace every where, let's bring in some 1 like billic done a good job with wba and promoted youth which is good, also sherwood who would also do a good job in my view and last 1 Neil warnock completely different to the other 2 but he's old school and a very good manager and whe kick the players back sides which is what they have needed for along time, I don't think we will win championship but I do think we will go up bmouth for me will destroy the division.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am totally with you on all of that 4eva.
I am going to keep shtoom on the manager, I have made suggestions before and been slated for it.
But yes I have been saying for a while now mate, we need a complete restructuring of our club from top to bottom.
All the team levels should be coached to the same mentality, and systems, that way there are no odd socks left over.

Dave, who would you like to see manage us in the championship? I've said Jokanović a few times but he does have a big question mark over him in the Premiership (albeit some Fulham fans would say unfairly) .

Now I know what I am about to say probably isn’t going to be popular but I would stick with Deano admittedly he ha made mistakes but he will I believe learn from them, let’s not forget that in under 2 years he has got us promoted and to a cup final so we have struggled in the prem but given the restructuring that was required on the playing side that was always going to be the case let’s back him and give him the chance to take us back up.

Gents, I think that deano is ok in the championship but will never be prem class. I think the biggest problem we have is suso. We have brought in young players from leagues which are equal to mid table championship standard and expected them to perform in the prem. Suso is the one who's recommended them. Pep or Jurgen couldn't improve these players so how can deano. I myself would love to see a hoddle sherwood partnership at the helm with them sourcing their own players not having a sporting director.

I wouldn't go for jovanivic another Smith spent 120mil on what not for me.

17 Jul 2020 12:21:11
BK, like I said mate, I have mentioned managers before, but I would try and get Julian Nagelsmann from R B Leipzig.
Young guy, likes to play football, is experienced, problem is Leipzig are in Europe, so chances are slim.
But we will never know unless we try.

{Ed001's Note - dreaming there dave, sorry. The problem is not that Leipzig are in Europe, it's that he has the likes of Bayern, Madrid, Barca etc keeping tabs on him. There is nothing for him to gain by dropping down to Villa.}

There does need to be a plan I'm going to say another name l ripped villa daz for it but after looking at what he did at clubs makes sense to me Klinsmann and he could nurture ad blood our youngsters if giving a chance it would take a few years but I'd buy into that so fair play daz 👍.

If we are going to change managers then it’s Bilic for me.

17 Jul 2020 12:53:44
I can see the arguement for keeping Smith but I just feel his decision making (or lack there of) has been our primary issue this season. Yes recruitment was poor, yes we have been unlucky with injuries but for me Smith's unwillingness to amend his tactics and his poor game management has cost us most.

What would people think of Marco Silva? Is there a good manager there or is it smoke and mirrors? Or Niko Kovac? Or are we better with a safe pair of hands like Chris Hughten?

17 Jul 2020 13:29:11
I agree with SV big time, Suso is a big fly in the ointment.
He needs his ass kicking ASAP.
And yes Ed, I am a big dreamer to a fault mate, wishful thinking.

17 Jul 2020 14:42:52
True but wolves got nuno when they were in championship money talks now along with ambition and of course having a long term plan our owners have the cash to make us a force again but we need the right manager, coaches and scouts,

{Ed001's Note - Nuno was managing Porto and not in the thinking of clubs likes Barcelona etc at the time. Added to that, his agent has a vested interest in Wolves' success.}

17 Jul 2020 16:40:37
Hoddle has a lot to offer, likes to play good football would use the youth, let him work with JT.

17 Jul 2020 18:17:10
Think somebody who embraces youth, and more importantly improves youth is vital for next season. We should be targeting the finest young talent in the Championship with the aim of going up with a settled and hungry squad.

Smith has played young players in the past (maybe didn't give Konsa enough chances at Brentford admittedly) . The pressure to keep us in the prem and Suso's history of forcing people to play his signings has been a hindrance.
Even then he has thrown vassilev and archer in (with differing results) . I honestly think in the championship if he is given free reign then we will see more of a mix.
Look at the evidence, Elmo is our best right back yet it took injuries to both Guilbert and Hause to get him back in. Either Smith was mistaken trying to push younger players like people want or Suso was influencing the picks. Either Suso is at fault or Smith is and our fans are as clueless as they claim our manager is.

17 Jul 2020 22:19:18
That is your opinion rk, and that`s all it is.
We are not all clueless idiots mate, that is very unfair, throwing Vassilev and archer on for the length of time he did, will prove nothing, in terms of ability.
They need game time, not ten minutes here, and twenty minutes there.
there are some very clued up posters on here, and put some valid points forward for discussion.

Hause is young and has had more than enough game time to show consistency, consistently bad unfortunately. Luiz barring the last few games has lost us points, is 30 games in the premier League an acceptable bedding in period?
Targett has been good going forwards but doesn't really understand defending despite being a defender.
I will also back up the point of other than Albrighton and Cahill who has actually reached a level even close to when we let them go. Everyone else has, at most, bounced back to around the same level meaning they weren't at a level to push us on, or ever even been a player to have done so.

18 Jul 2020 07:38:55
Douglas Luiz’s performances since the restart are proof that patience pays. I would say he has jumped ahead of Grealish and is now our best player.
Of the 28 games you mention before the restart, he didn’t start in all of those and he certainly didn’t play badly in all of them either. It has always been clear he has ability, we saw glimpses of it before the restart and now due to keeping faith in him, we have one hell of a player.
