Don't worry everyone 4-4-2 solves everything, or it just leads to an even duller match with less attacking threat.

That`s not the case at all rk, and you know it.
What people were asking for, was the Manager to try something different.
There is only so much you can do with a bunch of very average players, none of whom deserve their wages.
It shows when for the last 10 minutes, we had every attacking option available to us on the pitch, and we still didn`t force a save from their keeper.
We are down, and we deserve nothing more.

Smith tried something new today and it didn't work but deserves credit for showing flexibility - The buck for our current situation will fall with him, and rightly so, but the players need to have a good look at themselves, with the exception of Luiz and Mings none of them looked remotely bothered today. We are going down with a whimper and everybody at the club, top to bottom should be ashamed mate!

Our only attacking threat all season has come from wide areas due to the ineptitude of our midfielders in passing the ball. We took that away and look what happened.
The players were to blame before but you blamed the system, the same players played worse in a different system but now it's not the system. Inconsistency is bad debate, just hold your hands up and say "I'm glad we tried but unfortunately it didn't work".
I said it was too late to play something different due to the settling in period required and today proved it.

I think your missing the point though RK, some fans have been calling for some flexibility (not just 4-4-2) for the majority of the season and when it arrives it's in game 32 of 38 and against bloody Wolves. You were right, it was too late, my point is and always has been "why didn't it happen earlier", "why didn't Smith show this flexibility earlier in the season", "why after 3 months of team planning did we revert to old ways"? And that sits with Smith! Today screams desperation from a man who is out of ideas? And we ended up back in his usual formation later in the game anyway, to no effect whatsoever!

Do we know for certain that another manager couldn't get a tune out of those players, it's not too long ago that fans were slagging Luiz and he's looking like an outstanding prospect since we returned (which Smith deserved credit for) - Can you say with certainty that another manager couldn't keep us up? We are in the bottom 3 on goal difference, under Smith we are down, I'm sure you can accept that, do we accept our fate and plan for the Championship or do we twist and see if another manager can get us over the line to Safety? If we are going down I want us to go down fighting, that's the bare minimum, that is not happening under Smith, at least show some fight lads!

You were still calling for the change in formation to happen now despite it being too late.
Wolves had a lead to protect in those last 20 minutes we changed so the gaps down the side were no longer there as they parked the bus and more.
Until we're out of reach then we're not gone. Wolves was never a game to target for definite points anyway. Palace, Everton and West Ham are. 7 from 9 in those games and we probably stay up. There is not an immediately available manager out there who would come to us who could do any better of a job with these players with so few games left.
