Mark I agree with David Platt mate was a fantastic goal scoring midfielder but just thought I'd go easy on the opposition to start with 😁 then bring him off the bench to finish them off, a later day Kevin de Bruyne/ Raheem Sterling type substitute where they think, oh s***! Its all over now!

Agree0 Disagree0

Platty had an amazing strike rate for a Midfielder Moose, including for England. I think it was an average of a goal every other game for England. His work rate was amazing also, he gave the team so much.
Great player.
Comparing with what we’ve got now, Jack might think he’s good but he’s still got some way to go to get up to Platty’s level.
Showing your managerial skills though Moose by using him as a super sub. If there was a tight game you could always count on Platty to come on and finish them off.
Like your style mate. 🤘.

Always leave something in reserve Mark and was a snip at £200.000 would love to see that grin when he scored again down the Villa. I wonder what he'd be worth now?

I don’t know Moose but I wish we could find a few more like him.

They're probably still out there but nobody wants to take a punt on lower league players need them all gift wrapped and shiny from a foreign league.

Very true mate.

Exactly lads, Crewe were a fourth Division side back then.
Top Managers got most of their players from lower league sides in those days, Kevin Keegan was another division four player, £33,000 to Liverpool. "Crazy"

When you think how much we have wasted, especially in recent years. There are many examples, but take Ross McCormack for instance. I can’t remember how much we paid but suffice to say it was more than 10 million, and he played, what was it 20 odd games, Dave, and scored how many? I’m sure you could have counted those on one hand.
There must be talent out there lads, perhaps it’s just a case of needing better scouts to identify it.

Well rumour doing the rounds in the local papers is the owners are considering getting rid of Suso so maybe they've seen enough with his recruitment and looking for someone better suited. If they were nearly all Suso purchases could suggest Deanos hands were tied except for the lads we had on loan last season. Bring back the days when the manager scouted and named the players he wanted himself, there would be no excuses then.

Yeah you are not far out Mark, £12 mill it was.
For sure there is talent out there, but Villa fans are Villa fans, and will complain they are not proven.
Can`t win mate.

Definitely Moose, too many cooks in football management.

Crewe were renowned for finding talent back in the day Danny OGrady the manager back then was instrumental in finding young up and coming talent ie Platt I remember their trainng ground on the corner by Mornflakes factory always young kids playing on there.

Hahaha, love it Daz, it was Dario Gradi mate, brilliant talent spotter.

15 Mar 2020 15:19:31
Wasn't Danny o'Grady Lily Savage? 😂😂.
