Just been watching the highlights from Sunday again. Our defending at free kicks and corners is atrocious with one main culprit. Tyrone Mings. He is our biggest player with regards to heading ability but marks no-one and gets nowhere near the ball. Guilbert was left to pick up the scorer with mings standing on his own. Why is he not attacking the ball when it comes in, why is he the spare man not marking anyone. Even when he blocks shots he isn't actually involved in defending. Sorry but in my opinion he needs to set step up.

I do agree with you SV, it is an observation a lot of people are either missing, or in fact overlooking.
In my opinion Mings is very much a loose cannon, and needs to concentrate more on his own game, rather than he does on others.
I must admit, when he came he looked a bit raw but reliable, and I thought he would settle and become a really commanding figure in our back line.
Strangely he has become a bit of a liability, and I find that very odd, given that our Manager and our assistant coach were both Center halves.
Work that out, I can`t.

He seems to be reactive rather than proactive. Think England may have gone to his head.

Maybe being selected for England went to his head a bit guys. He’s not as good as he thinks he is and definitely needs to focus more. I still think him and Engels are the best we’ve got for central defense though.
If we’re going to stay up the whole team needs to step up frankly, Jack included. Maybe McGinn coming back will help raise their games, hopefully the commitment McGinn
shows will rub off on the rest of the team.

No worries mark. I agree with him and Engels being the best we have but he needs to lead from the front.

Mings is OK but some of the mistakes he does are laughable, I'd sell him in summer if we stay up, the plenty of solid cbs around in prem and championship who would be good for us, I do rate konsa, and mungo bridge is going to be a huge talent, I'd play bridge at right bck now he's quicker than guibert and he reads the game well aswell, b4 we make any signings in summer we need to think we have 4/ 5 promising players that are going to be good if given the minutes so signing players for the sake of it is hindering our youths chances of playing in 1st team, there's probably about 6/ 7 players in our squad that shouldn't be at villa and are getting minutes over our youth.

Some of those players, like Landsbury for instance, who has hardly kicked a ball for us all season, are on big money as well. I was shocked to see that Landsbury is on more than Jack Grealish!
