Does anyone think ffp is good for football? I don't personally when you have owners like we have and they spend there money properly on us. so how are we going to progress really, and that will be same for wolves, Everton, sheffield united, newcastle, without spending, you're going to be in mid table top 8 or maybe top six like wolves are, but the thing is if wolves finish in 5th and champs league there going to need to spend massively because there squad isn't good enough for champs league but they won't be able too because of ffp.

it's limited if we stay up we clearly need better players by a mile and it's going to cost a lot, it's all right for the likes of Man united, man city, liverpool, Chelsea, aresnal, spurs, they make millions and are normally in top 4.

my point is the top 4/5 will always be the same in the prem because the big 5 teams are financially better than everyone else, can anyone see a Leicester winning the league again, not a chance, it would be like villa winning league next season 🤣🤣🤣.

I just think ffp isn't that good it hinders clubs and owners from progressing properly, in football today you need spend to do well.

I don’t like it either 4eva, in our case it’s seriously holding us back. It must be so frustrating for our owners who I’m sure would love to be able to pour money into the club. I just hope they don’t become so disillusioned that they decide to sell up and move on.
I can’t see the rules changing though, so the best thing to do is invest in youth and try and make our Academy the one that all young talent want to come to.
I think our owners are doing that to be fair. The appointment of Mark Harrison for example and the signing of Louie Barrie.
The way to beat ffp is to produce as many quality homegrown players as possible.

Yeah youth could save us millions avfrance, the likes of O'Hare, green, Barry, vasillev, Ramsey, and the young cb with dreadlocks forgot his name, I'd rather blood youngsters and give them a chance instead of waste millions on players that are not at prem level.

Mungo Bridges 👍.

18 Feb 2020 12:55:54
Are the likes of Luiz, Nakamba, Trezeguet, Elgazi actually any better than some of the youngsters we’ve given away in recent years. I’m thinking Barry Bannan, Daniel Johnson, he’s scored 10 for Preston this year, several assists as well, Edna Stevens, more than decent full back at Sheffield Utd. Is Guilbert or Targett really any better?
I Just hope mistakes have been learnt and they don’t give O’Hare to Coventry.

This used to be a regular topic of debate on here years ago.
I can remember when we were struggling under :- Lambert, Sherwood, then Remi Garde, and Di Matteo.
I used to get slated on here, for wanting youth players to be given a chance, my motto is if your good enough your old enough.
To me we have wasted years on a youth policy that has never been tried in the environment it is designed to feed.
Even now the powers that be, play a youngster for 10 minutes, then you never see them again.
Answer me this, how can a player like O`Hare be left wondering where his future lies, he could possibly save us millions replacing Jack, or McGinn, when they eventually depart.

Absolutely Dave, our youngsters have never been given enough game time to get anywhere near close to establishing themselves in the side. If the players they’ve spent millions on we’re doing the business week in week out, I could understand it, but only a few at best actually are. Liverpool, Chelsea and the Manchesters always seem to be able to give their youngsters ample opportunity and guess what, they’re reaping the rewards.

Agree Dave he has talent one of my mate is a coventry fan and the love I watch quite a lot of league 1 and he's got talent in a way he's has quality's that Jack has, and to your point avfrance your right our youth could of saved us millions instead of nakamba, elghazi, trez, guilbert, and target, there's some really good talent in our youth set up and reserves it's up too us to get the best out of them, we cannot let green, O'Hare, and Davis go on free contracts that would be utter maddness.

18 Feb 2020 15:19:10
Also Dave I think youth is the way forward, and your right what's the point in spending millions on our youth set up if we don't use it properly, it shouldn't matter who old you are if your good enough you play, for once I'm excited about some of the young players we have, mungo bridge is going to be a special player I'd play him now at lb he has pace and can read the game very well only minus against him is his build but he will fill out as time goes by.

4eva, ffp in theory is probably a good idea, I do say in theory.
The problem with it are the mechanics within it, most people including me, are not fully aware of how it works, also the period of finances/ / transactions is covers.
If you know anything about Double entry Accounting / Bookkeeping, you will see what I am trying to say, and that things are not always what they appear to be.

18 Feb 2020 15:27:31
Heureux que tu sois d'accord Mark.
Glad you agree as well 4eva.
But seriously, as 4eva has said, we have have some real talent at our disposal, and to be honest they should be in our plans for next season, irrespective of where we are playing our football.

18 Feb 2020 16:05:27
Je ne savais pas que tu peux parler la française Dave.
Bien sûr tu as raison, comme toujours mon ami.

18 Feb 2020 16:15:43
The problem was once we got promoted last season they lost that many players that they panic buy and brought a bunch of average players with a few expectations.

18 Feb 2020 17:03:53
Merci mon pote, Thanks buddy.

18 Feb 2020 18:02:42
To be honest Dave I think there's an opportunity to blood some of them now mate atleast have a few on the bench.

18 Feb 2020 18:13:01
Raj, we should of kept Hutton and jedi, and maybe Whelan aswell to get rid of all the experience has cost us in my view and Hutton is miles better than guilbert and Elmo and jedi is a million times better than nakamba, and Whelan would of been a good squadey for me.

18 Feb 2020 18:43:39
I get the experience thing 4eva, I really do mate.

18 Feb 2020 19:55:48
The thing is Dave all 3 had a lot to offer mate in my view and you could argue that Hutton and jedi would be starters mate.

18 Feb 2020 21:59:10
FFP primarily is there to prevent having a wage bill that far outweighs your income which in turn bankrupts you once the owners get bored of their project.
Stops teams going the way that Leeds did all those years ago. Unfortunately Liverpool and United stole a march on the Asian market many moons ago and nobody else can make a dent in the worldwide fanbase.
