Just my opinion, Pepe Reina is no Heaton.
Heaton is far better.

Agree0 Disagree0

Bloody hell Dave, Just been reading all tonight's posts. It's doom and gloom everywhere, only rk seems to be positive about things. As you know, I only get to see the televised games, what with living in France, so I can't comment on the performance. Was it really that bad, were there no positives to be taken from the game.

It was not good Mark, gave the ball away cheaply, defence seemed slow and laboured leading to mistakes.
Samatatta looked good, and needs a big guy with him, Davis, Gonzalas but we also need to see his movement and feed him.
All round a very poor performance, We are missing McGinn big time.

Mark RK is only positive because he doesn't see the full picture watching the villa on TV, watch live home and away and he would see things differently.

I can't understand it, they looked good against Leicester.
It's frustrating because staying in the premier league is so much more important than the cup, yet the level of effort from the players seems to be so much lower for the league games. It must be even more frustrating for you guys who are paying good money and giving up your time to watch it all.

Villadave, I can't believe that Heaton is better than Reina is of any consequence, Reina is only here because Heaton is injured. Tell us who is better than Freddie Hause Elghazi marvelous etc.

01 Feb 2020 22:26:33
Scotty, You say you watched the game, I think Heaton would of held the shot that led to their goal.
That`s how relevent it is, Reina has put our defenders under pressure with his distribution more than once.
He did the same at Liverpool.

Dave argue Nyland or Reina, fair point, Heaton ain't about mate. Our problems were about long before Reina. I'm no apologist for Reina, the problems are far far deeper than the goal keeper. Tell me about the failings of the others that lead to Bournemouth goals, like those that can't control the ball, can't pass a ball, concede unnecessary fouls in dangerous positions, that would be far more constructive.

01 Feb 2020 23:14:30
Didn't say we were great by any means. I just think with Engels instead of Hause we prevent both goals and end up winning the game.
I also prefer to focus on tweaks that could work in our favour rather than moan repeatedly.
A famous saying is "you'll never find a fix if you only look for problems"

Also, there's not really anything extra to see at the ground than on TV. In fact I'd go so far to say as I see more of the actual action than if I were sat in the away stand.
Atmosphere is the only advantage to being there in person.

02 Feb 2020 00:32:45
Rk no problem with that sentiment.

02 Feb 2020 08:41:03
Sorry lads I only get to see games on TV so cannot have an opinion as by some accounts by watching the game on TV my opinion has no validity.

02 Feb 2020 11:47:24
Everyone's views are valid, might not always be right but valid. You get to see different perspectives live, and see a much bigger picture than televised football, why do you think England managers, managers and coaches are seen watching football in the stands when scouting and analyzing opposition teams rather than on TV. There is a well known phrase "armchair supporters" this had been around since football has been televised.

{Ed001's Note - and of course they never watch videos as well.... Armchair supporters is just a nasty term from those lucky enough to be able to be in a position to attend to slag off those who can't get there or afford to go. It has nothing to do with seeing more or analysing football.}

02 Feb 2020 12:57:49
Exactly Ed. Living in Plymouth it would cost an average of £100 a game to go to matches before considering the issues of travelling time. It's not reasonable to attend.
I watch 99% of games on TV/ online streams and even have a customised tattoo of the crest. I support the club as much as is humanly possible for my situation.

Just a topic of chat Scotty, I know all about the other problems as you keep pointing out.
I was talking Reina after yesterday, and felt it was worth a mention.

02 Feb 2020 14:06:37
Arm and a leg from France rk and that's just to get to England. Don't thing the other half would be that chuffed either.

Nice one Ed 001.
