We needed more than a couple of strikers in the window. This result as it stands is the clear evidence of years of under investment and poor recruitment (managerial and players) from previous owners.
No long term plan always short term thinking. These are the facts.
We still have a chance of survival obviously but I fear if we do stay up we'll be no better next year.
Love this club but it really does push you to the limits.

Agree my views on the manager don't change getting to a final doesn't change all the cracks that are at villa, I say again I still think Sam allardice should get the job, we have a 2week winter break now and I would change if I was the owners, fans will probably slate me but staying in this league is the only thing that counts nothing else.

Disagree, the only thing he needed to change from today was to drop Hause whose only ability is heading.
Smith forces the balance issue but move Mings outside and Engels in the middle I think we're much better.
Midfielders need to cover the runs better mind.
I'd still rather we scored goals than turn into Cardiff who barely conceded but couldn't hit a barn door. Won't always work but we'll have a better chance doing what we're doing.

I think Konsa, Engels, Mings would give us good protection whilst also having decent ball playing ability.
The 3 at the back also gets more support up front and you can't argue against the Grealish/ Targett partnership that is growing.
Maybe a 3-5-2 from the start like we finished with would be good. Davis to bring Samatta and Grealish into it. If those 2 chances had fell to anyone but Nakamba we'd have probably had a draw today. He's not there to score but at least he was in the position for the chance I suppose.

That back three might be better Konsa, Engels, Mings, but Hause no, he maybe better cover for Targett at left back instead of Taylor.

Nobody has mentioned the officials. Clearly not all down to them but it did play it's part.
Lerma probably shouldn't have gone but the 2 main decisions the other way were poor at best. Konsa clearly pushed in the back right in front of the ref which leads to their goal and apparently a keeper is now allowed to commit ABH.
Keepers should be allowed to go through blockers to get to the ball and probably shouldn't be punished for a follow through on a punch but he was so late any other player making a tackle that late on the pitch would be yellow carded minimum.
