Today was individuals making bad decisions all day long. Not making runs when they should, not passing at the right time when someone does make a run. Holding onto the ball in defence while being closed down.
If Smith is freely allowed to pick players and chooses Douglas Luiz then I will agree as he can't defend, can't pass, can't attack and offers nothing.
Hause made some good blocks but he should have stopped the first goal but hesitated and did nothing.
The players are caught between overplaying it and goofball. Maybe that's Smith's philosophy to mix it up, maybe it's that they just are no good at decision making.
We can complain about systems and player selection but when he changes it the complainers still complain. We don't have world class players hiding in the shadows, Smith is working with what he has and I can't think of a manager out there who could improve it. A defensive manager would require good defensive players of which we don't have enough as they are all ball playing defenders.

Rknewell, he is changing players but not the system - I know our transfer strategy in the summer was built around a 4-3-3 but teams have learned how to play against us, we need a change in formation and Smith is not willing to do so - I think he needs to go, sorry I hate saying it!

Fed up with villa fans trying to defend smith cause he is one of our own
End of the day the bloke just isn’t good enough and can’t adapt
He brought all these players who are under performing and at the end of the day the sword falls on the managers head
