Be just our luck to play the worst man u side for sometime with pochettino's first game in charge. On a separate note how good have Sheffield been, I hope our lads are watching and see what lots of running and determination can do, after all these are, in the main, the same players that were in the championship last year. Sometimes 100 million plus doesn't always work.

Agree0 Disagree0

No I agree, 100 mil does not always work, but we had to do it.
12 Players had to go because of age, contracts ending, etc etc, we had no alternative.
Sheff Utd are doing well granted, which goes to prove you don`t need big name players.
Look what happened to Swansea back in the late 70s early 80s.
Teams can and do play above their station.
We are going to be fine, it won't be easy it never is in this division, but a few new recruits in January, and things will settle down.
Just below mid table come end of season.

Dave, as always admire your optimism and hope you are right, however I think you glasses are too claret and blue tinted at times. Hope that the recruit's you refer to (you have accepted these are needed and the 100 mill plus wasn't sufficient) help us to the mid table position you hope for. At this point I would settle for fourth from bottom and get a real dose of realism for next season with a change in coaching style.

Scotty, let me assure you, I have stated this on here before, and that is I never look at Villa through tinted glasses, I used to and I gave that up when I was a teenager.
If Villa are poor I will say so, read my posts from the past 5 years or more, I have had many an argument on here on how poor we were.
Secondly I have always accepted that we need more new players in January, that has always been the plan set out at the begining of the season by the owners, the manager, and Christian Purslow.
Its not optimism mate, its patience and the fact I am able to understand how difficult it is to build a successful side.
I only wish others on here could see that and be a bit realistic with their expectations.

New players -no-a new plan yes, and your right, Scott, Chris wilder proving being a manager who kicks players arses away from the camera and keeps it 'inhouse ', gets more respect from the players than a manager who tries to be their 'mate'and digs them out in the press, Mcburnie got charged with drink-driving a few weeks ago, did wilder dump on him in public-no-and see how grateful he is, if we get turned over tomorrow by the barcodes -with their 'dinosaur 'of a manager and their squad which is no where near as good as ours, then I think deano needs to read the riot act and stop playing the same lazy, selfish, self-gratifying players he sticks to and reads the riot act, when we win (I hope) he needs to use this as a springboard and kick some arses into shape, the new players have had long enough, time for them to stand up and be counted.

This story you keep pedalling about wilder dealing with things in house and that’s why his so successful I absolute garbage, where on earth have you got it from? The fella tells them how it is, whether it’s to the press, the club media or the players, watch his interview after they lost to Southampton, or Sunderland in the cup, there’s nothing in house about it. He’s honest and straight forward. Why your trying to paint this narrative of him being so successful because he’s private and Smith is out of order for saying Mings shouldn’t of been beaten in the air by Jesus, I’ll never know, it’s absolute BS and it there in video form available for everyone to see.

Sheff utd have been great and I can't see them being relegated
Every player knows there job and the work rate and movement is to be admired.
They are a very hard team to play against.
They press you all over the pitch and they attack in numbers and defend in numbers.
Wilder has a winning formula and deserve all the plaudits given to them.

On the money Mainbob, let's hope deano finds 'his' magic formula soon, and as for the 'garbage' about wilder, if that's what you belief Chris, fair enough, but you have to give credit where it's due, try it, you might like it!

Same thing again aye classof82, talk a load of rubbish, get pulled up for it, with evidence to show how much bs it is, then try and change your argument. Unfortunately you can’t, it’s there in black and white, you wasn’t just giving credit, you was attributing that credit to the fact he, and I quote “keeps thing in-house”, while there is evidence nearly every weekend of him being honest with his assessment of his squad and pulling no punches.

If you just did some research into what your talking about this might not happen to you so much, just a thought.

82, when will you learn Chris always has to have the final word, reminds me of my good lady.

I doff my cap to you Scot, your not wrong, but guess what, according to Chris- I am!
