I see we have put in a bid of 25m for Bailey, which is 30m Eur.
I think that has reportedly been rejected, so I think a second bid of 30m which is about 35m Eur would be enough to twist their arm.
Aston Villa has been entered into Wiki 🤞🤞🙏.

Villadave

1.) 28 Jul 2021 13:28:46
I am not sure if this one is going to happen. Villa have bid £25million and that has been rejected if we are to believe reports, an extra £7million would meet the players valuation of roughly £32million (€38million) yet it has gone quiet. It seems that Villa don't feel its worth the extra £7million to £10million required, especially given that he might not adapt right away. Surely a move for Mcneil is a more sensible one at that price range or above.

2.) 28 Jul 2021 15:55:59
Whether Bailey happens or not I really don’t want McNeili if you look at this numbers in terms of goals and assists El ghazi’ s numbers are better and we are saying we want an upgrade on him, McNeil is no upgrade in my opinion.

3.) 28 Jul 2021 20:04:56
Agree John, Bailey has very good stats in a good league, much better player imo.

4.) 29 Jul 2021 07:14:40
We’ve been spoilt in recent years, in that our big deals have happened pretty quickly on the most part. Watkins being one of the only ones that dragged on a bit.

These things take time, yes we have transfer funds but if your going to save 3 million by waiting a week, two weeks, then that’s what they’ll do. Ultimately the deal has to be right and so far the transfer team have shown they know how to get things done, on the right terms and for the best interest of the club.

If we start bowing down to every man and their dog you end up in a situation like Everton, look at their deals for players like Iwobi and Sigurdsson, absolutely shafted.

As fans the least we can do is take faith from our previous dealings and give them time to get things done, the right way.

5.) 29 Jul 2021 09:28:53
I agree on several points above guys for me Bailey is better but I just wonder if it will be another case of Luiz, Westley or Nakamba, we've been burned several times waiting for people to get up to speed and we need to replace Trez. let's hope something happens soon before the season starts, it would be a stunning statement that might tip the Grealish scales in our favour if it needs doing!

23 Jul 2021 20:19:53
I see Everton and Palace are supposed to, be interested in Marvelous Nakamba.
11m mentioned, wonder who dug this one up.

Villadave

1.) 23 Jul 2021 21:46:56
Yes I read that story to Dave, apparently Marvelous is high on Benitez and Viera’s wish list, it will be interesting to see if either club follow up the interest with a bid. I know a lot on here like Nakamba but for me if the offer was more than we paid then I would let him go but I think I am in the minority in holding that view.

2.) 23 Jul 2021 23:06:53
Yeah I like him John, but I am a bit like you, in respect of every player has a price, I have always had that belief.
As with Jack, three players of the quality we are looking at, ie Bailey, Cantwell and Alverez for the price of Jack, could only be good for the club.
Although it would be nice to keep him, Villa come before any player, that should never be forgotten.

3.) 23 Jul 2021 21:38:14
I saw it too. If we had signed Papa Mata Sarr it might be believable. But we didn't. As it stands we don't need to sell, do we? Can't see him going even for twice that.

4.) 24 Jul 2021 10:11:00
Agree that every player has a price. I wouldn’t entertain offers under 20 million for Marvelous, and adding just 10 million to that could get us a significant upgrade in Sander Berge.

5.) 24 Jul 2021 12:17:40
Yes Mark, agree 20m+ for me.
Berge would be a real good signing for us I feel, but things have gone very quiet on him, I am wondering if his injury history, is putting question marks over his suitability.

6.) 24 Jul 2021 13:55:22
Yes Dave, 30 million + for Berge would be a bit of a risk if there are injury issues. I like Romeu also, but I’m sure Southampton would be very reluctant to part with him.
He’s 29 but the way young Lamare Bogarde is progressing, that might not prove to be a problem. Not sure if Bissouma is Liverpool bound or not, but he really is top drawer and would be a massive upgrade.
I would be happy enough if Marvelous stays though, as I thought he did an excellent job at times and I think he could improve as a player.

7.) 24 Jul 2021 14:39:07
Bissouma is a good shout mate, although defensive Mid is not his preferred position, where as it is Berges natural and preferred spot.

8.) 24 Jul 2021 14:47:00
£20 million for Nakamba would be Marvelous 🤣🤣. I like Bissouma to but I think he he will be looking at a team that has qualified for Europe tbh. It wouldn’t surprise me if Utd lose Pogba they move for him I think he is the best defensive midfielder in the league, but I think he will cost big big money particularly as Brighton will have lost Ben White they won’t be under excessive pressure to sell.

9.) 27 Jul 2021 09:18:26
I do think Jack will stay, however I am becoming a little worried that we appear to be stalling on new signings. Buendia is an example of how the club can get a player if a target is established, I'm concerned that other targets are now being overpriced because they know Villa has money to spend, not to mention the need to show Grealish ambition. We may end up having to pay over the odds if we want to swim!

10.) 27 Jul 2021 19:47:14
I discovered a group on line that evaluate the reliability of all these reports on Twitter etc. - The Informer GB. I understand they look at historical accuracy of past football reports from journalists/ aggregators, the validity of the reputed source backgrounds etc. Their finding suggest the Nakamba story comes from a grade 5 source (5 = totally fabricated) .

Conversely, they report the Bailey story is backed by reliable sources. It appears Leverkusen feel our 2nd bid warrants dialogue and both teams are talking. Although not a done deal, it appears there are grounds for optimism.

Alas, sorry to end this post on a bit of a down note, but the reliability of both the Cantwell and Alvarez stories and their sources is very questionable, although they add the Will Hughes interest was likely to be genuine, assuming The Informer’s stars are all correctly aligned.

18 Jul 2021 15:50:46
Looks like we are chasing Caleb Chukwuemeka from Northampton Town, he is a forward.
He is also the older Brother 19yrs of our very own Carney Chukwuemeka.
They have said No.
How very dare they.

Villadave

1.) 18 Jul 2021 16:04:35
Said we can’t have him Dave, I reckon they’re taking Coblers mate 😁.

2.) 18 Jul 2021 16:12:44
We must unite the chuckle brothers.

3.) 18 Jul 2021 16:43:30
Chucky 1 and 2, very scary 😱.

4.) 18 Jul 2021 17:34:12
My wife said NO 😂.

5.) 19 Jul 2021 20:20:08
Heaven help the commentators.
I can't even say his surname properly so in the middle of a game will it be Chuky 1 and Chuky 2?

6.) 20 Jul 2021 13:31:02
I has to be Oldvillan 👍
Its good to hear from you, are you and your wife OK mate.

14 Jul 2021 16:12:28
Villa are entering the race for Thierry Small, and are making a move for the Everton sensation.
He is built like a tank this kid, and would be another great addition to our growing academy, if we can nick him.
A lot of interest in him.

Villadave

1.) 14 Jul 2021 17:43:26
Hi Dave, yes I couldn’t believe he’s just 16 when I saw his photo. Plays left back apparently and made his first team debut last season. Born in Solihull so might be ‘coming home’.

2.) 14 Jul 2021 17:51:15
I think he’s related in some way to Bryan Small so another reason why he might be coming home!

3.) 14 Jul 2021 19:02:30
Hi Mark, looks a real power house.

4.) 15 Jul 2021 09:37:15
He could fit very well, given his age. With Ashley Young no more than short time cover, Small could slot in nicely, more with an eye for 2022/ 23 season with the seniors perhaps.

The lad certainly looks very solid for a 16 year old, which is often a common barrier young lads have to overcome in breaking through. I can’t see that being a problem here.

06 Jul 2021 19:33:17
Another two fantastic deals been finalised at VP, the signing of a 5 year contract for Kaine Kesler, and the addition of a very promising youngster in Josh Feeney.
We are absolutely smashing our way into the reckoning as being one of the most ambitious and forward looking clubs in the country.
I honestly believe if we continue our current momentum and direction, with our academy and our player recruitment, we are going to be the surprise package in football for the next decade.
I am very excited at the attention we are attracting from the media, the punters, and the football fraternity in general.
It says it all when the only player we have not been associated with is Messi, and the reason, he hates M&B.

Villadave

1.) 06 Jul 2021 20:40:52
We could be about to poach another of the baggies most promising youngsters in the form of Tim Iroegbunham, who has turned down a lucrative contract.
Why do they all have surnames I’ve never heard of, I’ve only just got my head around Chukwuemeka 😂.

2.) 06 Jul 2021 21:23:31
Yeah seen that Mark, long may it continue, as long as we use them.

3.) 06 Jul 2021 22:05:13
We are building a youth team to be feared by other teams and commentators alike😂.

4.) 06 Jul 2021 22:12:38
Absolutely Chris, commentators will dread Villa games in the future at this rate 😂.

JWP has signed a new 5 year contract, move on and forget it.
Stop wasting time now, make a good sensible bid for for Bissouma and get it done.
lets cut the crap and get it sorted and move forward.

Villadave

1.) 19 Aug 2021 19:11:06
Two players this summer that we have bid for and they have signed new agreements. What are the club doing, if we don't sign some midfield reinforcements then it's going to be a long season.

2.) 19 Aug 2021 19:28:58
Ah well agree let’s move on. But I do worry that there are no more deals coming. I agree our midfield is not the strongest, we need that enforcer to allow mcginn to move forward. Only issue with decoure is we would lose him in January for the African nations. As we are nakamba. I think it was called on here that axel may play in the dm role. I also see the chuckle brothers being used this season as well as JPB. We need to trust Lange knows what he is up too

UTV.

3.) 19 Aug 2021 19:49:57
Admittedly we have missed out on ESR and JWP but you win some you lose some. But even if we sign no one else this window (and by the way I am with Dave in that I have been a long time advocate of Bissouma), I would argue the squad is stronger now than this time last year.

4.) 19 Aug 2021 20:03:33
Definitely John, no doubt about that mate.
But we need that important piece put in place now, it would give our attacking players, the much needed confidence to venture forward, and do the damage they are capable of.
We would be a match for anyone, with a quality DM, no doubt.

5.) 19 Aug 2021 20:09:34
John, stronger in some areas but are we stronger as a team, without a credible midfield we can't possibly compete at the level we would all have anticipated.

6.) 19 Aug 2021 21:19:18
I'm with Scot here lads, overall a stronger squad but our midfield is bottom half standard, at best. If you compare our midfielders to any of the team's we would be in competition with for Europe, we are miles off. And this is the second season in a row we have been lightweight in a key area, we were absolutely blessed Watkins didn't get injured last season or it could have been very bad for us. We need one addition, add a Bissoma-esque player to Luiz and McGinn and all of a sudden that Midfield doesn't look to shabby.

7.) 19 Aug 2021 21:32:28
I guess scottcafu the proof of that pudding will be in the eating, but on the face of it we have lost one first team regular albeit an absolute star and replaced him with two wide players with established reputations and an ex England international as back up, not to mention Axel on loan. The other thing is we all on here recognised we needed to move away from being a one man team and that the rest of the team needed to step up to the plate well nows there chance.

8.) 19 Aug 2021 21:41:51
Would love Bissouma, Anguissa, Berge, or Doucoure but you know I really think Axel could do as well as any of them.

9.) 19 Aug 2021 21:57:34
BK, I am with Scotty as well mate, always have been, we are all saying we need a midfield kingpin, its been the topic of debate for 6 months.

18 Aug 2021 17:24:08
My team to play Newcastle if Watkins is unfit would be: Below

Matinez

Guibert
Konsa
Mings
Hause

Tuanzebe
McGinn

Buendia
Chukwuemeka
Bailey

Ings

If Watkins is fit, then I would go

Matinez

Guibert
Konsa
Mings
Hause

Buendia
Tuanzebe
McGinn
Bailey

Ings
Watkins

I personally think we have got to start being a bit courageous, and try things out.
Let teams worry about us, get away from the predictability.

Villadave

1.) 18 Aug 2021 17:43:13
I think Watkins will be fit Dave, this is my expected team - Have a feeling we could see Konsa deployed against ASM.

Martinez

Konsa, Tuanzebe, Mings, Targett

McGinn, Luiz

Buendia

Bailey, Ings, Watkins.

2.) 18 Aug 2021 18:45:19
I’d go 3-5-2. if Ollie is available. If he isn’t I’d play the same formation with Bailey alongside Ings,

Martinez.
Konsa. Tuanzebe. Mings.
Guilbert, Luiz. Buendia. McGinn. Targett.
Ings. Watkins.

Subs, Steer, Cash, Hause, Nakamba, Sanson ( if fit), Ramsey J, Chukwuemeka, Bailey, Bidace .

I’m presuming Traoré is injured. If Sanson is unfit, I’d put El Ghazi on the bench or even Hourihane.
SHEGFY 💪🏻.

3.) 18 Aug 2021 19:09:53
Yes guys, we all have a pretty good idea what the team will be, or there about, let's face it we barely change our socks.
Those teams are what I would like to see, under the circumstances.
A bit different.

4.) 18 Aug 2021 19:10:16
SHEGFY-FT.

5.) 18 Aug 2021 19:30:43
I disagree I wouldn’t drop cash or targett yes they had bad games but everyone dose once in a while give them another chance! Ultimately I blame the wingers for not helping them the last game!
My line up would be:
Martinez
Cash konsa mings targett
Mcguin luiz
Watkins buendia Bailey
Ings.

6.) 18 Aug 2021 20:07:03
Mark, 3 at the back does it for me every time.
It gives us the freedom to drop 2 back when pressured.
Someone pointed out that El Ghazi failed to help out against Watford but who would want him at the back?
Both Cash and Targett feel comfortable as they have little competition for their places so going to a 3 could put their noses out.
There are a lot of options in the middle of the park so Smith has to sort out how he sees the team playing.
Watkins and Ings will be formidable provided they get the service.
I look forward to the team gelling and getting the goals that are in waiting to be scored.

Hi Neve, thanks mate, you pushing buttons again 😂.

Dave, good to have you back mate.

5.) 16 Aug 2021 15:57:26

13.) 16 Aug 2021 19:40:50
Cheers Whacky mate. 👊.

{Ed002's Note - Welcome back Dave.}

14.) 16 Aug 2021 21:20:16
Hi Dave.
Good to have someone with sanity back rather than venom.
Stay well old son.

15.) 16 Aug 2021 21:37:42
Thank you oldvillan, great to hear from you mate.
I hope your nearest and dearest is keeping well, and yourself of course.
Its a new season mate, can you see us having to get our boots out at some point. 😂.

16.) 16 Aug 2021 22:48:28
Could of used OV in at least 4 different positions on Saturday 😂😂.

17.) 17 Aug 2021 11:09:26
Welcome back Dave 🙌🏻.

27 Jul 2021 15:06:33
If I had 1.7m I would buy Jacks house of him in a flash.
Love to know where he is moving to, I heard it is somewhere in the UK. 😂😂.

Villadave

1.) 27 Jul 2021 16:38:20
Dave, Manchester stockbroker belt is favourite.

2.) 27 Jul 2021 18:31:27
Probably Scotty, I will be glad when the season starts to be honest mate, gets up your back all this c##p being spouted about, will he, won`t he.
Villa have been around for well over 140 years, Jack is just a part of that history, just like Pongo Waring and Billy Walker were.
There comes a point when enough is enough, I just wish there was more transparency with something like this.
As long as we recruit players of his type, we will survive, and who knows we may well improve.

3.) 28 Jul 2021 00:06:37
Dave next seven days will probably clear all the speculation and we can then move on.

4.) 28 Jul 2021 12:13:14
scott all I can say to that is here here.

26 Jul 2021 14:57:25
Good luck and thank you John Terry, you very nearly got us up as a player.
If you are half as good as a Manager, as you were a player you will do well.
Good luck.

Yep agree mate, they have said he will cost us more than Buendia, 35+ is the starting point, move on and look elsewhere I say.
If he is unsettled and wants a move, his head will turn, and so will his performances.
