Can i just say to all the merchants out there who want rid of alan hutton because he won't be quick enough or strong enough for the premiership i'd like to sat to you this, we're now nearly in february and for me, hutton is STILL the one bringing his A game every week, while others around him have dips in form, the championship is a bloody long slog, playing 2 games a week, its a war of attrition, and he's still standing tall, IF (and when) we get to the premiership, your telling me you don't think he came manage the crazy schedule of 1 game a week more often than not, then i think someone's been at the alcopops! you can argue about been prone to injury because he's older, but from what i see on the pitch, the championship pace is relentless, the premiership doesn't have the same intensity constantly for me, so i think no worries there, as for pace, terry never had any, cahill hasn't got any, and yet they still are 2 i'd like in my team, that's why you have the younger players doing the hard yardage while the older players organize and direct, when was the last time you say a bunch of either 100% young or 100% older players in a team-exactly, look at snodgrass, officially he's a winger, i reckon fag-ash lil could run faster, so outright pace is not the silver bullet, all i'm saying is he deservescto be treated with more class and dignity than they've shown him;and i reckon even if he only played 15 to 20 games a season for us he wouldn't let us down, so be careful what you wish for, he's a proven player, nowadays their rare.

Proven player? Did you watch the season we got relegated, he, along with the rest of the defence getting exposed week after week, would you enjoy seeing that for the sake of effort and commitment? And I like the guy and he’s been one of our best players this year but don’t let that blinker you, he wasn’t good enough for the prem two years ago and he won’t be now. That’s not saying any of the other right backs we have will be, we need to sign one imo.

Agree 100% chrisAVFC
Can’t knock his attitude or commitment but end of the day he won’t cut it in the premier league.
No sentiment in business/ football .

That’s the way I see it Malc, sad to see him go and I can see why people want to reward him for his commitment and attitude however he wasn’t good enough 2 years ago he won’t be good enough now, got to be ruthless so we don’t keep having dead wood on the wage bill.

Fellas, i see your point, but for me, i think he could a job, whether as a supersub, or playing every 3rd or fourth game as cover for injuries etc, what he may have lost in pace, reading the game shouldn't be underestimated, but the decision is made, and steve round can carry on making himself busy looking at would be young talent for us to invest in, i mean its not like we've done it before and it caused a right old mess, eh fellas?

But if he wasn’t good enough back then, what makes you think he’d be good enough now?
