Don't know how you fans think but listening to the fa cup draw made me feel sad that we threw our chance once again with that poor non- performance on Saturday,
This happens to villa to often and was it really a shock defeat?
No in my opinion,
We are the butt of many jokes about our fa and leaque cup performances against lower opposition.

Not really the FA Cup has lost its sex appeal now it's no good dwelling in the past the past is the past get over it move forward.

So what can we look forward to?
If we go into the prem we will just struggle and get beat most weeks all over again,
Do you just want that;
I would love to see us compete in cup competitions,
All you hear from the big teams is champions leaque is the only thing they want,
For me the champions leaque is a joke where you can lose 2 games and still be the champions,
And if you come 3rd in the table in early stages you get a another chance as you are then put in the euro cup,
But for me the fa cup is the biggest and best in world football and the big boys have spoiled it all,
Sad!

That's a very good point bob, I agree 100% mate.
FA cup was a day for everyone in days gone bye, lose your out, win your through.
What a football romance it was, its a shame and travesty the way the cup has been devalued, it has all been caused by money and foreign players who don't understand the tradition the FA cup has/ had.
My reasoning is simple, if you win a cup then get relegated the season has not been in vain.
Modern day football has developed a very unpleasant aroma.
Everyone is afraid to lose.

Love the cup competitions aswell, get up, get settled in the prem, back to the position we was in under MON where we knew we wouldn’t be in trouble but equally knew we wasn’t going to challenge for the league. Then start going for it in both cups, first team every round, we got to the final with an average team struggling to stay in the league not too long ago, with a decent team we have a decent chance, because each round is a one off and on the day anyone can beat anyone. Then win and your in Europe, you attract better players, get the name/ brand out there and can then spend more on transfers, that’s when you can push on improve the team and start challenging for bigger things.

Been a while but must now comment. The FA Cup is a trophy we should be playing all out for. If we're good enough the promotion will take care of itself. The cup is the icing we all enjoy. I've backed Bruce from day one but I don't agree with his tactics on this. I could understand if we were away to man city but at home to a league one side we should be looking to get it done by half time then bring the kids on.

Totally disagree.
The fa cup is a luxury, yes I like everyone else love it, and I’m gutted we are out of it, I’m gutted we are out the league cup, but they are not important. They won’t be until we are back in prem.
Grab some realism. A cup run is great, but it is more of a demand, it’s more pressure, it’s more chance of injury, it’s more fixtures. Everything villa and the players do not need at the moment.

I hope every other team we are in competition with a great cup run. Leaves us fresh and ready to come under the radar.
If you want a cup, pray for the play off.
Personally I think automatic would be better.

Flackie, that's exactly the attitude that has ruined the FA Cup. I say if teams like us can't be bothered with it then scrap it altogether, What happens when we're back in the prem, do we not bother because it could interrupt our fight for survival or champions league position. All it's about now is money and the FA Cup obviously isn't worth it unless you're a non league team drawn away to a top prem club.

You are right, I’m sorry, we should not worry about the league, about getting into the prem, or infant the competition that last the whole season, we should try for a cup.
Put all our eggs in that basket. in a knock out competition?

A cup is the cream that is on the top of the cake, it’s great to win one, have a run in one, but it is the league that makes, and breaks the club.

‘That’s the attitude that ruined the FA CUP’. Your words!

I say you are so wrong. Where is the romance of the cup, about the underdog coming good, the giant killing? Ask the pboro fans if the FA CUP is ruined!

Aston Villa need to be in the top division.
Full stop.
Every thing else is a distraction, until we are back in that league, whether this year, or if it takes years, I for one hope we are knocked out in the first round every year, so we can concentrate on what matters.

The cups are great when you are safe in your surroundings, can’t go up, can’t go down. For every other club, it’s a gamble, a gamble with injuries, fixture congestion, tiredness even a gamble as a distraction.

It’s nothing about money, it’s about common sense.
Premier league, or a cup run.

Ask the Ed’s if they can do a poll? Let’s see where people stand.

Unfortunately I agree with the Flacksters sentiment.

Brucey will only be judged on whether we get promoted or not. If we don't get promoted no one will look back and say "well at least we had a good cup run, give him another season", the call for him to go will be loud and long.

The Bristol C manager hasn't endeared himself to me after some of the comments after last night and after we smashed them, but at the end of the season, making the play offs (they won't get promoted) and a very decent cup run will be a major over achievement and they'll probably have an open top bus tour.

That's the difference a cup run makes to small clubs and big clubs with real expectations.

Ok flackie we will agree to disagree. I just hate losing to infrerior clubs by putting out a half baked team. Even man city only made four changes from their previous prem game, that's all I'm asking for.
