I come on here every now and again just to see what my fellow Villains are bickering about. My last post was to talk about a type of poison that had infected Villa. I spoke about players not caring. I had a real moan. I moaned because I love my club and like EVERY other fan I have a right to my opinion. However, I really can't believe just how much negativity there is and how little optimism there is out there. I know we've been shocking for a number of years now and it's been hard to sit through but I do feel we're a little hypocritical. On one hand we talk about pampered players who feel they're owed a living and just expect what they've always had but aren't we the same? Haven't we just been spoilt with top level football that we feel we're just owed it. We seem to think that because we're Aston Villa we should have first choice of any player we want. We have no Devine right to get out of this division based on how much money we've spent or how big our ground is. I get how frustrating it is, I really do but some fans just don't live in the now. They're still living in the early 80's. Look at forest, how big were they? Leeds?
Last season when we were relegated we had massive reason to moan but we're in a transitional period now. We all wanted rid of Lerner, paddy Riley and Tom fox. We got our wish. We struggled at the start of the season and never recovered. Negativity breeds negativity. With negativity comes pressure. Some of our players have already failed before they even kick a ball. Some players haven't even signed for us yet and we're already moaning about them. I feel like some fans really need to be brought down to earth . like they preach the players do. Bruce hasn't had a preseason yet and some want rid. He has a great record yet some want rid before he had a chance. It was the same with houlier, MacLeish, sherwood, you name it, we destroyed them before they even had a chance. The past is the past. We are where we are. So my plea fellow Villa fans is let's get some positivity back. In my opinion we're the greatest fans in the world. so how about we start showing it and start backing our team instead of kicking them all the time.
Who knew huddersfields manager? No one but they backed him and his plan and look what happened. Chris houghton, got backed and look what happened. As for players? If they play for Barnsley before us who cares? Support him! Dele Alli played for MK Dons. I rest my case. Villa till WE die.

I remember flying in from ireland to watch villa under MacLeish. Couple of lads in villa shirts on the number 11 bus said they refused to go while he was manager as couldn't let go of hate for him.

You really can't blame the villa fans for being negative. Go back 6 years villa and spurs were neck and neck for fourth spot. Fast forward and we are sat in the championshit while they are challenging for the premier league.

We all know where it went wrong. Get behind Bruce and let's see.

Agree with everything there Mike except the McLiesh thing, he should never of got the job and his appointment burnt a lot of bridges and is where the negativity snowballed from. Our time will come again, great post though 👍🏻

UTV.

To be honest mike I was going to give up this site people on here were starting to annoy me on here wanting Bruce out after a couple of months, Bruce wasn't baught in last season to get us promoted he was baught in to stop us from going down which I think we might have done under rdm, I totally agree with everything you say Bruce needs a preseason along with his own signings because I feel Lansbury and Co haven't settled in yet when they came in, in January we were on our worst run of the season I'm a believer in new season new start for maybe 95% of the squad I feel gabby richards gardener amavi elphick and all our keepers should move on, should try get in a younger version of Jedinak I don't think he has the 2 games a week left in is legs but does a good job for the game and half until legs go, I'd like somebody with a cool head in beside Chester.

I think baker is solid just on the ball wouldn't be his strongest point wide left winger we badly need as grealish is not a wide player and green is still not proven but has a lot of potential up top I think we possibly the strongest in the league so all in all we have built a good championship team in 1 season so yeah I think Bruce and the doctor have done a good job in 1 season some people have to realise most of our signings are only going to be scraps that prem clubs don't want all season people on here wanted hutton out of the team for me he was in my top 3 players kodjia Chester hutton Jedinak
Sorry if I went on a bit we need to support our team and stop the whinging.

Cheers guys. Just to clarify, I too don't believe that McLeish should have been made manager of our club and for a number of reasons. I was purely making that point that there is a section of supporters that don't give anyone a chance regardless of if they're a manager or a player. I have just read a post above this one about David Wagners comments about passion and desire and how important it is. But that passion and desire and possitivity has to come from us too. We have a chairman who is doing exactly what we asked. We want information which he provides. We wanted money invested which he has provided so far. We have a manager that genuinely wants to get us promoted. We have a team that at times last season really showed we can compete in this league and give an good run we can challenge. We have a great foundation to build from again but we are a huge part of that structure. So we could take a leaf out if some "lesser" clubs books and actually show some passion and positivity ourselves instead of constantly moaning about what we haven't got. When I speak to fans of other teams they ALWAYS say that we have one of the best away followings. So passionate and funny. It's those fans we should follow. The true measure of a good fan base and loyalty is to not just sing when your winning.
I know that as a club we're better than where we currently are. As supporters we are way better than what we've resorted to of late. we wear our shirts with pride, when people ask who we follow we tell them. We love that club! We all do. only you'd never guess it sometimes. UTV.
