Gollini (has made mistakes but miles ahead of bunn and as Steer hasn't been given a chance under 3/ 4 managers he can't be any decent)
Bacuna (before de last came in he was solid and seems to be determined this season)
Baker (puts his body on the line and is a decent centre back)
Chester (cool calm and collected and can play it out from the back)
Amavi (brilliant when played at left back and can see everything going on, out of his depth when he played left midfield as he didn't have a view of the whole pitch imo)
Ayew right midfield (been our best player so far, understands his defensive duties so far this season and is a constant threat going forward)
Tshibola (brilliant when he's played going forward and back)
Jedinak (played well for Australia this afternoon seems like he needs confidence however he has had a few terrible games and needs to step it up asap)
Adomah left midfield (similar to ayew, solid defensively and a threat going forward)
McCormack striker (best football brain in the team, works best in a pair and seems to have an understanding with kodja)
Kodja striker (athletic, quick, strong and needs to be given a strike partner who he can get to play with regular)

I reckon with game time this team will get to know each other and start getting results like we expected when we spent all the money we did. Kodja and McCormack were top scorers last season, both played in a pair and that's how they get their goals. A strict 4-4-2 is becoming more and more popular as it's hard to break down and give you numbers going forward best seen by Watford last year. With gustede on the bench who we've seen vs Forest can come on and change a game, grealish who can come on and occupy a number 10 role and play in the pocket, and Westwood (god forbid) who can come on and pass it back to the keeper for the last 20 minutes to bring the clock down I think this team can really get us out of this position and give us options in any situation and hides our frailties in midfield. I have missed out elphic as I believe he's made a rod for his own back with the things his said because he's talked the talk but his performances haven't matched up to the talk, so a bench role for him for a while will sort that out I hope.

Wow!
Great post mate!

Can't tell if that's sarcastic or not, I was doing something very boring and tedious so had time to kill😂🙈.

Mate I'm serious, spot on! Took my dinner break to read! But it's good!

agree but ayew wasted on wing.

Hard to get ayew in but he has to play, don't think his finishing is good enough to play in the strike force and he is useful on the wing as it gives him the freedom to cut inside when bacuna can overlap. Main thing is consistency, McCormack and Kodja need to build up a relationship, so do tishbola and Jedinak, the wide players and their full backs. RDM chopped and changed so much each week players couldn't build relationships and understandings with each other.

Very well thought out post Chris. I've got a problem with Ayew though. don't think he'll be at VP past the January window, a good ACN and he'll be off for a good price, we should be bedding someone in now in his place, Green maybe? For all the good flashes Ayew's shown, the table don't lie and his lack of end product ain't helping. McCormack and Kodjia 100% for me

Good point he gets into good positions but football brain doesn't come close to his ability, he doesn't know when to release the balls and runs in to trouble half the time, but at the moment I think he's the best option. If he goes in Jan it should be for minimum 15-20mil because that's what Xia will demand, i'd pay the money for someone like Robbie Brady, offer it all for Wilfred zaha, knockheart from Brighton would be brilliant, if Huddersfield have dropped off go for forrestieri or go for someone from a big club on loan who isn't playing like Danny ings, oxlade chamberlain or victor moses. Worst they can do is say no, or they want 5 mil more, get offers out there and you never know, I think knockheart, Brady and Moses could be realist depending on our position in the table, Brighton and norwichs and Moses playing time.

Great post Chris and the perfect team exactly the lineup I would pick "perhaps Gardner for Jednaik though for some extra pace through the middle.

What's all this about Ayew guys I can't get my breath! He has been our most creative player by far but you're not sure about him!? He doesn't need to score his work, effort and creativity has kept the team going. Be careful what you wish for because without him we will be flat in that department make no mistake. Grealish is very unpredictable.

11 Oct 2016 22:48:38
Agree he's been our best player but when you look at his return in terms of assists and goals, if he gets sold the money we get can replace what he has provided, players like knockheart and Brady would get similar goals and assists because even though they wouldn't make the same amount of good runs and such they are clinical so when they do make them they will set one up or get a goal. As it stands tho Ayew is the first name on the team sheet, just not upfront as we then have to sacrifice other more prolific partnerships.

Well said, and going on the players you've mentioned, I'd go for Brady. 100% agree that Ayew has been a shining light so far but I'll let everyone on here kick me in the nuts if he's still at VP after January 😵 and do you think he'll give a toss about us when he does go?

His attitude tells me he won't care less but his performances of I didn't know better I'd of thought he was villa through and through an was never going to leave.

TBH i think if Ayew goes in Jan, we get in an attacking midfielder. We have enough forward power and we have Adomah on the right. I would like to see Ravel Morrison in, he seems to have got his head right of late and has something to prove.
