West Brom bid 4.5 mil for Clark, after his euros performance thinks it's best for him an the club he moves on, but if baggies want him tell them they can bid 8mil, make sure we mug them off an not the other way round. For all the calamity he is still relatively young and could end up being a decent player.

I have two words, Gary Cahill.

19 Jul 2016 21:23:01
I think there is merit to both points
If you are going to sell him, let's get as much dough as possible, more like 6.0 mil for me.
I hear what you say Flackie but I just don't see Clark turning into a player as good as Cahill became, not even close. That said, some are late developers and that is particularly true with centre-halves.
I remember the days when Carragher was seen as a liability at Liverpool
In other words, I should have kept my gob shut on this one!

I believe Ciaran Clark is a class act i would tell pullis to jog on if they want a cbk offer them lescot or okore lol. pulis loves clark he won't give up let's hope we keep him!

Was thinking Gary Cahill when I was writing the last sentence in the post, checked an Cahill was 22 when we sold him but do agree Clark could easily thrive under the new manager/ playing style. However if we are going to sell, don't sell to a rival and if so milk as much money as possible so we don't end up with egg on our face. Also think Okore and Clark arguably make similar amount of mistake however Okore has the pace and strength to get himself out of those mistakes more often than Clark does.

Clark is 26 now, I think one of him and Baker have to leave and personally I would keep Baker as he's got that championship experience.

19 Jul 2016 22:07:25
Clark does make mistakes but i woyld definitely keep him. I think he reads the game well and is far better positionally than okore and baker. I would be interested to see how he does in a defence which isn't under d much pressure all the time.

I like Clarke and okore give them a few more years an they both be very good.

19 Jul 2016 22:45:34
IMO, Baker is potentially closer to being Cahill class, heard him being called 'last ditch' but better decision making comes with experience, he's a warrior, not scared of getting hurt, I don't see that in Clark, and we've got Toner coming through that's left sided and looks the part, take the money but squeeze some more out of them

UTV.

I would play Clarke and baker.
Okore I see your point, but anyone player who for what ever reason refuses to wear the shirt, has burnt their bridges in my opinion.
He may not agree with the managers team selection, and I totally agree with him, if the Klingon can get in the side above him would cheese you off, but that single reaction should end it in my view.
Keep baker and Clarke, lose okore.
If he can throw dummy out once, can do it again.

I love baker for his commitment but if he rad the game better he wouldn't have to make all the tackles he does. Next to a defender better at organising he could be could. can't play clark and baker together. Most if clarks poor performances came when he was on the right. Overall i think clark and baker competing to partner elphick or okore could work.

20 Jul 2016 08:18:45
For me Clarke is a liability and Baker but if I was too choose it would be OKore and Elphick at the back with Baker as the holding midfielder Clarkes positioning is terrible and will make 1 good challenge in about 2 matches he will give more dangerous free kicks away around the box when playing. Having played at at a decent standard where by I was getting paid to play the game I love i was speaking to a old team mate the other day and we was on about Baker and how he could become a really good player for us but if the Tesco carrier bags want Clarke then let him go for 5 mill that's about his price IMO.

20 Jul 2016 08:53:01
Bakers commitment could see him as a holding midfielder but that's it, no other quality he has would suit a defensive midfielder, he can't read the game well enough, isn't fast enough and hasn't got the passing ability.

Clark is a pathetic defender, makes far too many mistakes, dives in without thinking and always makes the wrong choice. Take the 4.5 mill all day long. Good riddance.
