We need to keep things in perspective here, we have lost 1 game, not 5 or 6, a couple of seasons ago we put 7 past Liverpool and they didn't end up having a bad season. I admit we were poor but poor all over the pitch, I don't think it helps scapegoating particular players like Cash and Bailey you could just as easily have picked McGinn, Kamara or Digne who were equally as bad. Although it was a 5-1 score line we did create chances Watkins screwed a shot wide and Cash missed a tap in following a Watkins shot so we were very much in the game until the third goal went in, when we started to chase the games and consequently lost our shape. I think the test for Emery is going to be how to adapt to the fact teams have seen how we play and we saw in pre season how teams are going to attempt to play through us. I think we will be an exciting team to watch in that when going forward we will always pose a threat as we move the ball quickly and are good in possession but we will always be susceptible to the counter attack.

100% agree with this - I'd add that Newcastle, from a physicality and pace perspective, are a very unique side and a team that, if you're not "on it", can rip teams apart. It was a very bad day at the office combined with a horrible injury to a key player and some poor selection decisions by Emery which won't happen again I'm sure. It's now all about how we bounce back, massive game next weekend and a hugely important end of the window - I expect us to be busy!

Agree lads, we needed Buendia or couthinho on the field yesterday we lacked creativity, couthinho showed glimpses when he came on but our legs were gone at that point and Newcastle were just knocking it around frustrating us, I don’t think there’s room for luiz kamara tellimans and maginn on the pitch at the same time, hopefully if zanoilo comes in he can be that player or else we have to give couthinho his chance.
I see guy’s mentioning Foyth? All I see online is him wanting to go to Barca, also pretty expensive, is he a viable option? I really am surprised we haven’t replaced young yet.

I hope you are right BK although I am a bit concerned around the £280 million losses we are currently running with, only Chelsea’s and Everton’s position is worse than us, at some point that surely has to impact how we operate in the transfer market.

I think I read somewhere that Emery has said he won’t be pursuing a right back this window but in fairness I can’t remember where I read it! If that is the case then I think when Moreno is fit he will move Konsa over to play as an auxiliary right back allowing Moreno to bomb on creating an additional man further up the pitch when we have the ball while Konsa tucks in alongside the two centre backs effectively playing a back three when we haven’t. That’s how he used Foyth at Villareal and it worked quite well.

Konsa didn’t manage it to well yesterday he’s not fast enough

It’s one game Whack. If Emery doesn’t think Konsa is up to it over a season, then he has to sign another right back we will know I guess by the time the window shuts.
