Looks like our right back purchase is an 18 year old Marc Pubill from Levante. I wonder whether he is one for the future or seen as a direct challenge to Matty Cash's position? If he's one for the future maybe Konsa will move across from centre back to play in a fullback come back three type role, Emery did something similar when he managed Juan Foyth at Villareal it will be interesting to see how this develops.

Looks more like one for the future.

Don't know anything about him but seen a lot of spainish "experts" (take that with pinch of salt) who say this lad is a future star. This type of signing makes sense, he's probably good enough to really keep Cash on his toes this season and will eventually develop into our first choice RB. Cash, while not perfect, is still a good RB and for us to get an immediate improvement on him would cost 30M+. Could be a shrewd move if he's as promising as has been mentioned online I guess.

RB is the priority for any further spending and it should be to usurp Cash rather than support/compete.
If we play Cash then we need to abandon the high line because he simply can't get his head around it.
If he plays in that offside trap we lose even the slimmest of hopes of aiming for Champions League and potentially miss out on Europa also.

I think the priority is still the forward line RK, if we lose Watkins for an extend period we are in massive trouble - A Ferran Torres / Brennan Johnson type would be ideal, can play up top but gives us options wide as well, that's the priority for me personally. To upgrade Cash we are talking big money, it needs to be addressed as I agree with you he's the weak link in the back 4 but it's not as pressing for me as a forward.

There's not a lot of experience up front but with the likes of Archer, Diaby, Bailey I think there's a good mix of composed finishing and unpredictability that we can get a few goals out of them.
The problem with Cash in that back line is we could need to regularly score 2 or 3 goals to get a result which is worse than a few weeks without Ollie.
The likes of United, Brentford, Newcastle and Liverpool will be pinging balls behind him left, right and centre.

I’m with you BK I think the priority is up front, I don’t think Cash is as poor as some would have it, I also think we might see Emery adopt the same approach that he used at Villareal, where Juan Foyth a centre back by trade was used in a withdrawn role on the right not really a centre back but not an out and out full back either, his role was to tuck in when Villareal were attacked but rather than bomb on as the modern full backs tend to do when in possession of the ball Foyth would hold his defensive position allowing the left back to push on. I think Emery may be preparing to use Konsa in that type of role, he is athletic and disciplined enough to do that job I think.

Well Konsa is starting at RB tonight, could be the solution to the problem RK - I won't be staying up to watch it but hopefully he does well, could save us a lot of money and Cash off the bench against tired teams could be a very useful asset!

We looked a lot more solid with Konsa there but it's hard to judge against such a poor Fulham side.
The problem with going down that route is that any midfielder/winger on that side is massively isolated.
JPB touched the ball defensively as much as offensively. Whoever plays there in the prem is going to get the same level of stick Bailey was getting because they will lose the ball just because there is nobody else over there.
