Looks like Europe is now unlikely, however let's celebrate how this season turned out after being in the danger zone under Gerrard. i'm sure the focus is now on rebuilding for next season. Many have accepted we probably need at least five quality signings. If any fans think we don't need that many, just look at our bench over recent games.
My selection of players who i don't think will start the first game next season. Young, Konsa, Morano, Luiz, Bailey, Traore Buendia. Whilst some of these will be on the bench, a couple along with Chambers, Dendonka, Olsen will be moved on, Duran will probably go out on loan, remember he was a club signing and Emery had nothing to do with it. Apart from Newcastle, we haven't played that well recently despite picking up so many points. Teams have found us out and we are far too slow and deliberate at times and we don't seem to gain the advantage many other teams do playing out from the back, we look uncomfortable on the ball. I can't wait to see what quality we bring in and being brutal, if our buys aren't significantly better than what we have, we will not be in the top eight next season.

I'm not sure teams have found us out necessarily Caffu, I think we could (and maybe should) have taken a point from United and probably did enough yesterday to at least force a draw (if not a win) . I just think Emery has squeezed every last drop out effort from this side, we look dead on our feet since Newcastle but we could easily have more points on the board. Agree the Europe is probably out of reach now but if we finish 8th I still think that is a very good result given the start we had and sets us up very well for next season. We need to add genuine quality in the summer in key areas, which I think we will, and we'll be back much stronger next season.

I think we will only add 3, maybe 4 of genuine quality, possibly 1 or 2 squad players depending on who leaves.
A midfielder, probably Guendouzi, 1 or 2 wingers and a right back.
Big players in other positions probably only happen if we sell a current starter (or Digne out for Tierney) .
If more than a couple of squad players leave then the remaining spots get taken up by the return of Tim, AJ and Archer.

I think you're right RK - Personally I think we'll look for 5 players, a forward, Winger, CM, CB, RB and hopefully they will be quality. Then we'll look to replace exits like Digne etc with younger players, either from the academy or transfer market. It'll be an interesting summer for sure, I expect us to be one of the busiest clubs in Europe in terms of activity.

Whack, unfortunately Bailey was on long before the other two, and Bailey was Bailey absolutely useless.

Bailey wasn't good but still managed more than Traore did in double the minutes.
Carlos didn't have much to do as Wolves stopped playing at that point. 1 good crossfield ball and then maybe overly safe with his passing after that.
Kamara didn't have enough time, not sure he touched the ball more than 2 or 3 times.

RK your first sentence summed it up an extremely poor Bailey did little more than a woeful Traore, both were rarely considered by previous managers, if i didn't see either in a villa shirt ever again that would suit me fine.

Not good and extremely poor are slightly different. Both have done a job for the club when needed and quite honestly if we carry on overloading the left you could put Messi on the right and he'd look average.

We need a RB like Moreno to balance our attack, young is a great player to have in the squad but he’s getting burnt out playing every week since cash injury, I do like cash but he’s end product when he pushes forward is very poor, it’s a shame digne is not a RB, him and Moreno as fullbacks would work imo.
