Lots of media commenting on the Potter situation at Chelsea.
Potter is a Villan at heart.
Chelsea seems to be poison chalice for managers, probably worse than our situation.
Loads of money and massive expectation from many millionaires in the dressing room.
So if Potter is shown the door where will he go?
I think he will end up at Leeds. They want someone who can get a team together, as he did at Brighton, for very little money and be able to sell them on for big money. Currently Leeds play a very physical style if style is the right word and would benefit from a more pure style without the combative attitude.
Leeds also have some very good players who would also enjoy a less aggresive game.
Do you think that Potter would have been successful had he come to Villa rather than Chelsea? Not suggesting that Emery is not producing the goods but some posters did put Potter in the frame when Gerard was with us.
Recent reports said that PSG were looking at Gerard, and Leeds were also hinted at him.
Does anyone think that Gerard could get a managers job anywhere? Acrington Stanley perhaps?

Hi TOV,

When we were linked with him recently I watched a couple of Brighton games to get an idea of what it might be like. Frankly it seemed a bit dull, although I agree the record speaks for itself. Now we have Unai I am glad it turned out the way it has. I think he has just that bit more gravitas with the top players and he seems to be in it for the long haul.

Potter is a good coach and if he is given time he will get it right, what I couldn’t understand about Chelsea’s transfer business in January was having spent £600 million in January they didn’t invest any of it in an out and out goalscorer. If they persevere with Potter and sign a proven goalscorer they will be challenging for honours again I have no doubt. Chelsea should take a leaf out of Forest’s book when the clamour from the press was for Cooper to be sacked he wasn’t and Forest are now reaping the rewards.

If Chelsea do sack him if I were him I would sit tight for a while, over time he will have better options than Leeds.

Re Gerrard I am sure he will have other managerial opportunities, he was a disaster with us but a success at Rangers at the very least he deserves another opportunity maybe abroad but another chance nonetheless.

I think it's more a Chelsea problem than a Potter problem.
Chelsea don't have a proper transfer strategy to build a team, they just seem to hoard number 10s and then just buy up anyone else who seems to be the flavour of the week.
Compare them to Man City who spend a lot but regularly get the right player for what they need. Most of the time it's players you don't see the media fussing over that much.

Brighton are a better team since Potter left, I'm not sure he is as good as people think

He might not be the best of the best but he built Brighton up to the team they are now.
De Zerbi has them on a good run but it's too early to say they are flat out better, especially this season where a lot of teams are struggling to find any consistent form.
Moyes made West Ham better, until he didn't.

Brighton certainly haven't missed him.
