Loti-your absolutely right about Cooper being in charge for longer than Gerrard,my bad,I didn't express myself properly there, what I meant was that sg has had a nucleus of a good squad for virtually a year to work with and on,so he knows the players' strengths and what they bring,Cooper has a whole new squad he has had maybe a month only with and he's been able to mesh them together as a progressive unit playing pressing, attacking football WITHIN a month!as yet sg,who by the way funnily enough wants to play 'attacking, progressive football' can't cobble together a squad to do that over a longer period of time?-if I were the scouse I'd forget about sg and keep tabs on Steve Cooper,he plays more their style and unlike sg,he's the real McCoy,not a plastic version!-fair play to you for wanting to give sg more time, but if your that thick you'd rather play 'Cortina-Coutinho' over 'Beamer-Buendia' then I don't think he has grasped just how bad his midfield situation is,if you don't go on form, then you might as well be dim enough to try and buy Craig dawson-oh no wait!

Agree0 Disagree0

Fair enough 82 and I agree with your point on Cooper he is class wherever he has been England U17 through to Swansea and now at Forest but at some point like most managers he will go through a bad patch and it will be interesting to see how he is viewed then both by journalists and fans. I don’t want people on here thinking I am a Gerrard fan because I am not but by the same token you have to give the guy a chance, he has had some success admittedly in a less competitive league but success nonetheless and prevented a previously dominant Celtic team from achieving the mythical 10 championships in a row so he must have some talent. I think he is having difficulty in adjusting to this league, he needs to adapt his tactics better and he needs to be given time. We have had 13 managers in 22 years and the only thing we have ‘achieved’ in that time is relegation! We won’t go down we need to accept that we are a mid table premiership outfit at the moment and review progress preferably at the end of the season but January at the earliest and take it from there.

Again, good points Loti,he did well in Scotland but I think that was more because of Beale having the guile,McCallister being the glue, but without Beale he looks bereft of ideas, again I applaud your Christian approach to giving him till January, but to show this club means business and isn't a rest home or holiday village for players to use as a stepping stone I think we should be ruthless,he's had virtually a year, all I see is no progression, players brought in on big folding, players not 100% sure what the way to play is,and a disgruntled changing room with the wrong man as captain and a favoured midfielder with no confidence and no excuses, while buendia, who I think has raised his game stews on the bench, the decisions made yesterday were criminal, wrong substitution of Luiz as an example,is McGinn playing better now he's captain, are we helping ings to reach his full potential, look at Martinez in goal yesterday, his body language is saying he's out of here,we're wasting Kamara, who out there is the drill sergeant, no-one,these are all simple reads, but he can't, a year in the job and the best we're doing is stagnating, he's had his chance, let's pay to get someone else in and show we mean business, because this is a serious business we're in,no mistake, unfortunately sg was.

I'd be interested to see if you're still keeping the faith with Stevie if we lose another 4 back-to-back games LOTI. We are indeed a work-in-progress destined to be mid table until such time as we're not. I'm just not sure there is a cohesive plan or certainly it doesn't feel like there is. It's all very well upgrading the ground and increasing capacity, but unless we start playing some sparklingly entertaining football and win some games, no-one is going to want to come and sit in those extra seats.

If we lose the next 4 I still will not be calling for the managers head if by January we are still on a downward trajectory then it might be time to reconsider but I still believe you need time particularly if you are new to the league and trying to instil a way of play on a group of players which we’re largely the choice of the previous manager. Don’t get me wrong Gerrard has a big job on his hands trying to turn this around he needs to be more flexible in his approach tactically and less stubborn in how he wants to play but for Christ’s sake give the man a fair crack of the whip. When he took over he was criticised for wanting to use us as a stepping stone on the way to Anfield and we have a poor run and the knives are out. If we do sack him I’ll bet you anything you like we won’t get Poch or Potter
